What a huge loss.

Henk was a passionate aviator, an innovator, an adventurer and a friend and his passing leaves a big, empty space

My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I copied his pics from his most recent Mozambique trip last week and here is as we all remember him. Today has been tough and we miss him dearly. Our condolences to Elma and the family.

:( :( ...My fellow Aviators, it is very sad and we dont understand these things..
I dont think there is a lot of consolement in the above verses but to me it says that even if I am sad I can still enjoy life..!!!
So to all of you who are sad...Be happy...Henk is at a better place.. vhpy vhpy

Will miss Henk always tinkering on improving his airie in our hanger.Henk was so concerned for the newbies on our Dragon Peaks flyaway,i had numerous calls from him just to see if we were all ok.A very careing honest man,if ever there was a TRIKER Henk will take the cup in my book.wind snow rain or hail Henk was flying.
There's a BIG hole at panorama now without Henk, that no one could ever fill in.
There are no words to ease the pain for Elma and the Girls. My sincerest sympathys to all the family and friends.
Go with God o Boet, you will be sorely missed. (-)

Since the phone call from Elma on Tuesday night I have been in a state of shock. I could not bring myself to even post anything yesterday.

Henk, you were one of my best friends and flying without you is just not going to be the same.

You were one of the nicest guys that I know and the type of pilot that I aspire to be.

My first long flight of some 2500 km, Henk just pitched on our wing an hour after takeoff and said he was coming. From two we were three.
Stuck in Aliwal with a sick Gaylord, I sat with Henk for two days while he looked at the bridge over the Orange river working out how he could fly under it. He never did but I will always think of him when I drive over it.

Henk turned a day trip to Zebula with my wife into a three day trip up to the Botswana border. No spare clothes, no food nothing. “Come up here he said. I am on a farm with a big double road to land on” It turned out to be a 200m sort of path between an onion field and a mielie field. He had to land before me before I saw where to go.

Henk, I will miss you. Thanks for all the memories and thanks for being my friend. You shall fly with me always.

Elma and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Reilly

RIP. How strange - we have lost 2 aviators the same way this year. Looks like it is more dangerous to be standing next to the road than to fly.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Devastating news....Henk, your thirst for adventure was an inspiration to us all.
Will never forget the memorable experiences we all shared in Inhaca Island just two months ago.
Until one day my good friend.

Hi Guys,

I've been in the privileged position to be friends with Henk and I will miss him like hell. I have no words to express how sad I am. We saw each other
virtually every day. We were neighbours and he would just walk over, because we have a gate between our properties, make coffee, drink it, say
"BUY" and walk back to his house. Everything that he had he was prepared to share with his friends. He forced me to get my rating on his GT 450
because he wanted me to share the pleasure of flying his awesome plane. I could probably write a book about Henk and the things he did.

The actual reason I am posting is to give you the funeral arrangements.

Funeral arrangements are as follows:
There will be a church service at the NG Kerk Florida at 8:30 on Saturday 5 June.
At 10:00 there will be a small memorial service at Panorama Flight Park, we will have a dvd and a slide show for those interested while we have a Braai
and a couple of beers.

The Braai and Beers idea was mentioned by Henk on a couple of occations to his friends.

Everybody is welcome to attend either the church service or the
Panorama "Braai" or both.

I hope to see you all on Saturday.
