More Info, My mate had parked his car on the eastern side of the beach near the Chapmans Peak hotel. They were walking along the beach when they saw the trike take off and end up in the water. A rubber duck pulled the pilot out. They continued past and walked all the way to the harbour. On the way back he saw a ski boat with two teenagers dragging the trike in and once it got close enough to shore my mate waded in and helped them get it to the beach. They then dragged it up the beach and started taking it apart near the Dunes restaurant. He estimates at least an hour between the hitting the water and packing up. He did not see the NSRI is all this time. They must have arrived only after he was packed up and gone.

So the initial thread has taken a total different path that it was intended to achieve.... :?:

Sitting on the beach and see a R-22 go into the sea one could use the 1 in 60 rule and determine the mere deviation that an eye witness could relay, especially with distance and direction involved. Just listen to the hunting stories with buck being shot at a 1000 metres just to be checked with walking it off or using a range finder... this distance decreases to a mere 100 metres. Then one has to look at the Sling crashing into the sea... only to sink some 2 and a half hours later after watching it float for that time and they still cant find the wreckage.... and so on and so on.....

We are missing the point... a transgression has taken place, aired on radio (imagine a 747 crashing in the bay) and the evidence of any wrong doing quite eloquently removed in a jiffy!

Various points can be gathered from this but will be misconstrued in various strains of opinions & assumptions!

And on the point of witnesses....

Maybe Grumpy can enquire and get a possible lead from all the known people in Houtbay..... Maybe there is a photo lurking out there?

What's the point of the thread again (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^)

Was CAA alerted?
Is the trike back in circulation?
Is the pilot licensed?
Is the trike licensed?

While I agree there is process that needs to take place, are you not preaching to the converted? If it was me I would sure as hell not be owning up on a public forum....    so IMHO what's the point?

Just asking....

I was also "just asking" and didn't expect Joe Soap to own at all (that's if he ever is on this forum at all) or maybe he doesn't have the balls like Bayliner! (^^)

If it came across as if I am "preaching" please accept my apology for that as well but at least there was a bit of excitement in between.... ek gaan vlieg, jissie gaan vlieg jy, waar gaan vlieg, aaag ons sal kyk of die weer lekker is, jissie kan ek saam gaan, nee jy kannie, sal jy fotos opsit man ens. ens.

What can I say.....

I suppose it easier just to say nothing happened so what's all the fuss? ##

Hey John. Leave my balls or THE BALL out of this. Seriously though, I dont think anything will come out of this: Not enough aviation witnesses to the incident.

Oh damn I forgot Bayliner.... you only got 1 left! vhpy

I think the point has been made that transgressions take place and are noticed and are attempted to be followed up.....
