What a movie I agree...

It is nice to see some portrayal of history in such vivid colour. I have now seen that movie 4 times...and always riveted.

Viva La Escadrille

Very good movie

Had to laugh when in one scene the one guy tells with awe how the new Fokker has 120 HP (I think) and a climb of 1000feet per minute vhpy How things have changed, most big engine microlights climb the same and power close to 120hp

Amazes me that even planes from those days could do aerobatics, unreal

That movie about the Memphis Belle was cool!!

You into poetry Demon? Of course you are!! - You and me both having Irish blood surely you have read this? and if nor let ol Bid D share it with you

An Irish Airman Foresees His Death

I know that I shall meet my fate
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love;
My country is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.

Deep brother.... - I love the part about "A lonely impulse of delight drove to this tumult in the clouds"

All good movies,
have to agree with "TOP GUN and those magnificent men......",

here is another classic if you can find it "The battle of Britian", made in 1969 and has some of the best aerial sequences---and non of that was CG---all real flying.
They used some Me109's and Heinkels 111 from the Spanish Airforce that still used them.
Just brilliant movie. Some of the stars "Michael Caine, Laurence Olivier, Susannah York, Robert Shaw and Michael Redgrave. Movie over 2 hours and the 2 disk has the making of the movie---awesome stuff. How they sourced the planes, shot the aerial parts, worked around weather.
Allot of the aeril shots were actually done over France as the weather in the UK was dismal.
Check it out.
