Hi - guys Leprechaum posted the following number in an accident post. I think this is a very important number to have on your cell phone. I just want him to clarify if they take care of everything - so in my action plan for an accident on the school board I can just put this one number on?. So even If the field is on fire and the guy needs an ambulance or if we just had an oopsie with running off the runway with minor damage - we call this one number?.
As we said before one call does it all Folks herewith the number of ATNS who do it all when you have an oopsie
ATNS - 011-928 6454
These folks take care of the medics, CAA etc
Regards Leprachaun

The twenty four hour numbers for reporting of aeronautical accident/incidents are 011 928 6454/5. These people will in turn notify the ARCC which is the Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre who takes care of all pertaining to the accident/incident.Stephan van Tonder wrote:Hi - guys Leprechaum posted the following number in an accident post. Please remember that all ATSU's are alerting posts so reports could also be made to any of them.
For far more information on how this all fits together it will be to everyone's benefit to read more on the SASAR website - http://www.sasar.gov.za. Read up on the Act. as well as in the SASAR manual which clearly state the responsibilities of the SMC.
I once again urge all clubs/schools/safety meetings to invite the ARCC to do a talk and presentation on SAR and how it all fits together.
Everytime there is an accident my fellow aviators are keen on these presentations but when all goes well again, the possibility of SAR goes away and becomes forgotten.
Please also save my number which is a 24 hour call out number for SAR related reports and queries.
Take care and fly safe!!!
