Why can't a host country provide the trikes through a local manufacturer? Sounds ridiculous, but works with great success in the yaghting comps.

Trikes/ yaghts are sold off as demos / to schools/ auctioned (with reserve) and the exposure to international markets is priceless. Recouperate some payback to supplier by way of entry subsidy, get the tourism industry to subsidise, I see oppertunity.

At least the winner will compete against identical machines and certainly warrent being the champ.

Tumbleweed, a good idea in theory but imagine if the manufacturer makes a flimsy trike that makes you nervous everytime you hit a bump..LOL I would be a nervouse reck all through the entire comp. Pilots like to fly threir trusted and proven machines IMO.. I flew in the 1996 world champs when it was in SA and saw a Brittish trike fall out the sky in front of me in the thermalling task and I was very chuffed to be in my trike that was so robust.
but it would level the playing field and make it faire on everyone and it would not be the pilot with the most money that can win but the pilot with the most skills. so maybe if it was a reputable factory that is well known then it would work well.
