I got the newer version of the Oregan Scientific camera, the AT3 - something, the recordings are good, quality is nice. Problem is that you need to mount it within reach, because it has a auto shutdown after 30 minutes. So you can use the remote control to start the recording or take still pictures, but after 30 minutes it ignores you....

Got a couple of good shots, seeing how hard your front wheel works when taking-off, also when landing..... (well the landing may just be me (**) )

If you want HD camera's I think the best is Mark Beckers system. (He did the Flying the Falls and Flying the Fish DVD's)

He has a Sony A1E/Z1E mounted on his bar. He had trouble getting the vibrations out. But he tried a few diiferent systems, and finally decided on a Manfrotto grip that, when squeezed allows you to move it on its 'pivot' point and this means you can move the camera.

He also mounts a Sony A1E with all the extra bits stripped off. (Microphone, etc.) He then has a holder for it that he attaches to a extensoin peice off his wing. He does the same on the nose of the wing, but has a extension tube that means the camera is mounted futher out, allowing a greater field of view.
T
hese all record to there own tapes, and are triggered by remotes he keeps on his bannana pod.
I'm not 100% sure of this - but I'd imagine when he gets home (or lands when he is flying an expedition) he puts it all onto his laptop and then can reuse the tapes or put a new ones in.
Contact him for more info - mark @ freetoadventure . com (remove spaces)
Hope this helps

I had the ATC3K and it was not great.
(No video screen for viewing). Picture: Youtube quality. Sound: neglibable due to waterproofing)

I've just bought the AT5CK but still no aerie to test it on. (CAA and the inevitable paperwork debacle)
Wish I had seen this review before buying though.

I would certainly have gone for the Tachyon XC
I agree with Tracer. The 30 min shut-off on the Oregon Scientific products is a pain in the g@t.
