Re: Rotax 532 powered KR2

Wow Rudix, I've lost all pics of my Mizer and those I posted over here are no longer available. Tx for sharing, I really fondly remember the good flying times we had then. I always held you back as you were much faster. Great memories my friend, Henni I should have more photos in the archive, will ...

Re: Rotax 532 powered KR2

Hi Rudix, Great pics. Very, very neat installation. I realize anew how simple & light the Rotax installation will be in comparison. Between you & me, we'll have the two extreme opposite KR2 engine installations, right here in South Africa. Will be very interesting to compare the difference in overa...

Re: Rotax 532 powered KR2

Hi Henni, Great information and photos! Thanks for the photos of the 2-stroke installations, most I have not seen! I wish I could get my hands on a completed, or almost completed KR1, I think that would really fly well with a 582 or 618! Here is a photo of the engine installation on ZU-CGR, since th...

Re: Rotax 532 powered KR2

Hi Rudi, If push comes to shove I can always sell this prop (unused) and have a new one made by the same manufacturer. I still have a few months realistically so there's still time for that. I'll contact the prop manufacturer in the meantime and ask him about this. I'll get back to you with his ans...

Re: Rotax 532 powered KR2

Hi Henni! I am just worried she would not really fly at all or be dangerous! A quick, ball-park calc shows that if the gearbox is a 2.53 (guessing) and you run the engine at 6500 rpm the max speed you can expect is around 76mph! That would be dangerous..... But I am sure we can make a plan! Keep wel...

Re: Rotax 532 powered KR2

Hi Rudi, ' This is my specific engine & prop. It is a Geo Kelly 66x37 off a dual Pioneer Flightstar. I know for a fact that a longer slower turning prop gives more thrust which is excellent for take-offs two up which is my main concern initially. I will try my utmost best to keep prop as is for now...

Re: Rotax 532 powered KR2

Great news Henni!

What size/make prop do you have? Smaller diameter prop with more pitch than normal would be great for the KR2 else you will run out of revs before reaching the speeds KR's like to operate at.

Keep well,
Rudi

Re: Rotax 532 powered KR2

Ha! To think I rented & pulled a one tonne trailer 350kms for this... I actually went for something else, but the seller was kind enough to offer this as a alternate at a reduced price as I would not have used half of the other stuff I originally intended to purchase. Stripped everything yesterday ...

Rudi my friend, Why does someone like you bother with the type of aircraft you fly. I fly them because thats all I can afford to fly at the few times I can afford it at all. Man, you are so far outside my league Im amazed you even talk to me... Dont you yearn for something more sophisticated? I sho...
