Re: Xenon flying over CT - at last

Good to hear you on the radio Greg. Have been really enjoying the M24. Take a little getting used to. Quite different from the other tandem gyros. Flew into Ysterplaat on Saturday for the Young Falcons wings parade and took a few kids up which made them happy.

Re: Back into gyro's

Thanks Greg. With the pitch set to the Highveld, I burnt on average 19-20l/hr, with power settings of around 29" and 5100 RPM. True Air Speed around 78 mph (125km/h). Indicated was 70 mph.

Now that the pitch is set correctly for down here, I'll get back to you with some figures for the coast.

Back into gyro's

After a 4 year sabbatical from gyro's, I bought myself a very nice M24 Orion. Am really pleased with it. It's Len's previous gyro, ZU-RJR. Flew her down from Jnb 2 weeks ago. Took off from Springs in a howling wind, with the mine dumps leaving a trail of dust. Very comfortable trip in an enclosed gy...

Re: True?

As someone said, "I hate it when that happens".

Seriously though, that guy was lucky. It appears a bearing in the rotor head was installed upside down. A fatality in SA occurred many years ago for the same reason.

Re: third party insurance

Would also like to find as I'm in the process of getting my ATF on a newly purchased 2nd hand gyro.

How much 3rd party cover is required?

Gyro renewal

After a 3 1/2 yr sabbatical, renewed my gyro licence today with Louis. vhpy Have been flying a RV9A in the interim, but have missed the gyro characteristics. RV is boring if you have nowhere to go. Unfortunately the RV9A is the non-aerobatic version, so you are confined to trying to watch the scener...
