Renegade, thanks for your opinion. Was exactly why I posted the question. I am worried that the hole in the firewall will wear out but as you say. Mr Evans was an engineer and he would have known.

I will not mess with it.

Mounting engine to VP1 firewall

The VP1 engine bolts directly to the marine ply firewall. No engine mount. I was wondering if it would be better to install aluminium bushes in the firewall to take the engine mount bolts, instead of bolting it just through a hole in the wood? I am fitting a motorcycle alternator to the flywheel side of a VW engine destined for my VP1. Obviously the rotor is fitted to the crankshaft. Take another photo with the camera set on a smaller pixel setting. I couldn't upload 7.1 mega pixel pic's onto Avcom. Set the pixels to 1 or 2 point something and no further problems. These photo's will probably not be good for much else but I couldn't see a difference in quality on the forum.
