Re: WC frequency ????
Mike The 50nm is not the frequency decider. The 50 nm from a soccer stadium requires that you have a personal SSC code, a military FAC code and a flight plan to fly. Published TIBA and approach frequencies remain. Under the Cape Town TMA your are subject to, special rules east 124.8 and special rule...

Re: MT-Gyros 1,500 hour limit on airframes and rotors
Glen I did not think that Eben was trying to sell/ market anything - this is a discussion forum and the thread is about cracks in a high stress area and the point was that the RAF people came up with a split mast and a rubber bush as their particular solution to the same problem. Perhaps a little to...

Re: Buffelsfontein
OK, I'm in. The kids (Gert and Francois) at morningstar will be in the air at 7am. Thats a lot of traffic for Buffelsfontein - expect some parking conjestion and a few breakfast delays. Would suggest joining overhead at 1500 and left hand circuits - probably a southerly tomorrow so uphill landing to...

Re: Prop and Keel touch
Whether landing or in flight, there remains a question around the integritity of the mast and keel junction and the ability of the mast to absorb the various forces during flight, and the ability of the keel to be able to absorb the forces of a rough landing. Another make of gyro has previously stre...

Re: Prop and Keel touch
Found this pic. Looks like quite a distance to the keel. I doubt that the keel is bending as there is a serious brace there, so it must be the mast. The engine mountings would have to be very loose in order to get that amount of travel. So Len what beer are they serving up there? (^^) gyrocopter.jpg

Prop and Keel touch
Scary stuff!
I have seen the same from a landing on the tail wheel of a sycamore but this happened in flight in turbulence.
Thoughts?

RAF 2000 report back
There has been a lot said and discussed about gyros in general and about which gyro to buy on various forums. Many people have sent me a PM with various questions on my RAF purchase, and so now that I have 100 plus hours on the RAF, I feel qualified to give my opinion and not just defend my purchase...

Re: Gyro headset options
Sometimes simple solutions are the best. Go to an industrial safety supplier and buy some disposable foam ear plugs - the kind used by factory workers in high noise environments. I have attached a pic of one type. There are many different types so try them until you find a comfortable one that works...

Re: New Circuit procedures for Morning Star
Hey Morph, Have you made a mistake? You can have different circuit altitudes but NOT different joining altitudes! There must be one joining altitude for all then a procedure is followed to get into the circuit. This now means that trikes will join at an altitude that other aircraft have to descend t...
