Re: Gyro records

What's more interesting to me than the need to carry a significant amount of fuel and fly for ~12 hurs non-stop, is the fact that his average speed is given as 156kph! He must have enjoyed a tail wind of note from take off to landing. Then there's the matter that the that VNE for the MT03 is 100mph ...

Re: RAF

Halelujah!! At last someone has something positive to say about the RAF!! It seems the gyrocopter fraternity has in the past always sought some reason to break down any other brands than the 'main stream' types. I hope to be visiting Upington soon to also experience the RAF first hand. We should all...

Re: INFO / RECOMMENDATIONS ON FLIGHT TO CAPE TOWN VIA WEST COAST

Hi Morph

Thanks for the assistance.

Would like to route coast-wise as this should provide good specatcle value (I'm not in any hurry)!

I have ~70litre tank + 20l extra giving about 4,5 - 5hrs (no reserve).

Will be most grateful for any info / contacts along the way.

Regards
John

Re: Rotortec new Gyro from Germany

I've communicated a number of times with the guys @ Rotortec and they are somewhat 'secretive' about the side by side gyro. They have assured me it's great and that all will be revealed at the show in April! So, at this time I don't think we'll get any more useful gen.

INFO / RECOMMENDATIONS ON FLIGHT TO CAPE TOWN VIA WEST COAST

Hi Members I am planning to undertake a trip from Jhb to CPT in the near future and would like to route via the West Coast (I'm not looking for the shortest but rather a scenic route!). I will be one-up in my MT03 and, as such, can carry a bit of extra fuel. So far I'm comfortable getting to Alexand...

Re: Rotax

Yikes!!! It gets more expensive by the month.

Saraf, what is the current cost of the Subaru with all it's necessary components & accessories? Also, what's your opinion on the reliability of the Subaru?

Thanks

Re: Commercial Gyro License

I hope I can shed some light on the topic - by no means do I claim to be an expert but I have been looking into this for my own interest. There is quite a bit of info on this (Commercial operation of gyros) in the CARS. [Part 96 referred to below is found in volume 2 of Aviation Legislation in SA wh...

Re: Registration letter allocations to Rotorcraft - CAA AIC

I went to CAA on Friday to apply for the change to "Rxx", but was most disappointed to learn that I could not choose a new registration without paying ANOTHER R2000 (previously paid when I first registerd my 'baby'. I was then asked why I wanted to change the registration, and explained the 'CAA req...

I agree with all the positive comments re ATC's @ Grand Central. Every time I've contacted them when using the Pinedene exit route they have been professional and friendly!

Re: How much should training cost?

In my opinion, and especially if you have little or no experience, you should first do a couple of hours on a school's Gyro. This will give you a good idea whether it's really what you want to do. Whatever you do, don't go spending a lot of money before you're sure - not only on the sport, but which...
