Re: Empty skies

Regarding MISASA getting involved in helping crash strapped pilots, I really do not think that they should get involved with this. First of all every one will claim to be cash strapped once they start helping people. I also can not see where they are going to get the money from anyway. Do keep in mi...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Hi Mark I would like to take the trike to Namibia but I do not think that it will be ready and even if it is ready I cannot see how I will get all the paperwork done. At last I got my build number, jipeeee! I also had a fruitful discussion with Braam and I think that I now understand the process a b...

Re: Building the new Bushbaby SAFARI

Congratulation Boet. I think that Boet and Tommy have done an excellent job. I have seen the plane a while ago and it is a very neatly build plane (As all Boet's planes)

Re: Which Prop

I like the NC props. They are local and they can handle stones on rough landing strips. They are not as strong as the warp drive but I think that that is an advantage. If you hit something solid you want the prop to break, not your crank.

Re: Scratch build a Trike

I borrowed some seats from another trike to make sure that everything more or less fits. The back seat will be a bit more upright and the front seat must lean a bit more to the back. In the final installation I might use a simple "webbing seat" such as used in the Spirit II for example. The back sea...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

The frame is now partly welded and the seat frames are tacked. The total weight is 16 kg which is slightly less than what I budgeted for in my calculations. One or 2 smaller brackets such as the pod mountings and bottom pylon bracket are still missing which will push it close to the 20kg I originall...

Re: Western Cape AVIATORS Year END

Had a great time at the party last night. Thanks to all the people involved, in in particular Paul. Grumpy Rocks!

Was also good to put some meet people like Mark Boucher in person. Hopefully we will do this again next year!

My trip was cancelled due to the weather so I will pop in tomorrow. If you have a place I will join you. If you do not have a place I will just say hi.

Re: Western Cape AVIATORS Year END

I see your guys are going to have a lot of fun. I am on a flyaway this weekend so I can not join you but with the cold front moving in, who knows?

Enjoy it! (^^)

Re: MISASA - What do you want us to do for you?

I would first of all like to thank the members of MISASA for all their work. I think that most members appreciated this. A lot of discussion is about money. I think that very few members really have any complaints about the cost (there will always be exceptions) as long as they feel that they get va...

Re: MISASA - What do you want us to do for you?

Without repeating the same things I want to give my support to every thing that Africa and Stephan said about over regulation. What should be done: MISASA should more actively oppose CAA's over regulation of microlight flying. I know that this is frustrating - I have been trying for months to just g...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

After a long break I have started building again - no excuses, maybe just needed some psychological preparation. Most of the frame is now cut and welded. Still trying to get a build number from CAA. fork2frame.jpg The first photo shows the fork tacked together and mounted on part of the frame. xFire...

Re: Manual of Procedure

I have tried several times to email but the emails bounce back. Here are my 2c of comments: I am not a lawyer so some of my comments might not be applicable in which case please forgive me. 1) in 1.15 the issue of equipment is just briefly mentioned. No definition is given of equipment but I assume ...

Re: Ballistic Chute or not

Well I am sure that there are strong opinions about this so to start off I want to say that I do have a ballistic shoot on my trike but I do not think that it should be compulsory. Personally I will only deploy the ballistic chute if my trike has a structural failure and I can not control the trike ...
