Re: Scratch build a Trike

Ystervark, I have only now come across this thread and have scanned though the main points. i am by no means an expert on fatigue, however delving into my Maties Mech eng. background as well as experience in the field, there are to main variables to fatigue life of a component: 1) Magnitude of the l...

Re: Pioneer dualstar

Sounds like her registration is quite apt! vhpy

One benifit is the slower she can fly, the slower you'll hit terra firma and the better your chance of survival if something goes wrong - kinetic energy is proportional to the square of the speed....

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE

Boet, Do you intend to retain the engine ECU and VVTi system? Or would you rather go with something like Eboxi with fixed timing? I see the engine has a roller Chain to drive the Cams - Nice for reliability! puff

Re: Building the new Bushbaby SAFARI

Thanks Oupa - thats very kind of you. i was really excited to experience first hand that you & your team are approaching the whole project from a practical perspective - thinking further than just your own requirements. This plane has come a LONG way from the original BB450

Re: Building the new Bushbaby SAFARI

Oupa G the model: He had to pose with his toy for an article in a medical journal. We had a good chuckle at his mutterings “Real pilots don’t stand next to their planes in this way…” Lastly here are some pics of Oupa at work, epoxying carbon-fibre tubes (for the break lines) onto the new landing g...

Re: Building the new Bushbaby SAFARI

Here are some pics of Groundfish sitting in the cockpit. I'llcheck with him how tall he is - if I remember correctly he is 1.93m

He commented afterwards that he would love to fly it sometime…. Not bad for a blik driver who’s usually sceptical about homebuilts !

Re: Building the new Bushbaby SAFARI

Finally, I get a chance to post my impressions of my Safari fitment. Apologies for the delay Oupa, but our brief visit to the Fairest was quite busy so I am only managing to log in now. For those of you who have not yet encountered my whining lament about not fitting into planes, I'll start with som...

Re: Bushbaby Explorer # 130

Thanks Nico will definitely make a plan to visit. My suggestion would be to base the colourscheme loosely on SAAF Bosbok/KUDU/C185 and use the squadron badge - see pic. (If your family badge is too elaborate it might not look period - but it will also be a nice touch) The other suggestion is to pain...

Re: Waiex Project

Larry, I must say I am still puzzled by the apparant lack of interest/poor service that you seem to have experienced from Shadowlite/Jabiru in George :? :? Generally the Jabiru motors seem to be doing well and people seem to be happy with them (I have for example not heard of major problems regardin...
