Update on Commercial Gyro License

Since my post on 27 January re the above, I have pursued the requirements for the Gyro-Comm licence. It's by no means as simple as I orignally understood (part 96). As things stand at the moment (per CAA and RAASA), it is necessary to be in possession of a current comm licence (VFR is fine) and an a...

Re: Rotortec Worldpremiere

The revelation of the new gyro from Rotortec was certainly exciting, but what puzzles me now (after a month) is why it is not even mentioned on the Rotortec web site! Their latest 'press release' is still the Clod Dancer! Surely this new machine should be getting more publicity than their 'Cloud Dan...

Looks great! Will need to be compared with the new release from Rotortec, though!

Hi Glen

Those pictures should really be removed!! They could result in my wife's dream coming to pass of moving to the Gordon's Bay area!!

Awesome!!!

Well stated, T-bird! If we stick to the basics of 'common courtesy and consideration', all should be well.

Re: Rotortec Worldpremiere

Wow! WOW! and WOW again!!!

When I first spoke the Rotortec guys they assured me they had a winner coming - but this is even better than I expected!!

Obviously it would need to be tested for SA's conditions, but WOW!!

Re: Low Flying

If anyone is really serious about action being taken against alleged offenders, let us use the existing, formal CAA channel, viz the CAHRS. Unfortunately this forum is not accessed by everyone. Also, even if an offender was 'named and shamed' - so what? The CAHRS form can be downloaded via the link:...

Re: AmericanAutogyro

I believe you mean 'horizontal' stabilizer not 'vertical'. The RAF's not using a horizontal stab is a very old and painful discussion. The builders/agents (the Mocke's) have explained at great length that the RAF does not require one, and that they see no reason to fit one just to please those who t...

Re: 4 Seater Gyro's

I've heard talk (perhaps speculation?!) that Xenon is busy with a three seater variation. There is such a lot of development in the Gyro space that I would not be surprised!!? In my opinion this would really be great. Imagine being able to take a couple on a site seeing trip in an (enclosed) 'couple...

Hi THI

CARs = Civil Aviation Regulations
CATs = Civil Aviation Technical Standards

Both are available on the CAA website.

Re: Gyro records

Agreed, RV4ker! This was one of the reasons I tried to get more info on conditions (altitude, wind, etc).

I'm going to try again and will post the detail should I get a response.
