Re: Scratch build a Trike

Thanks for the encouragement and offers on the GS motor! :) If you guys have some spare money after building your planes, maybe we can spend it better on more testing. I am not sure what CAA will require but as I understand it the requirements are more difficult if you want to sell a kit or plans. I...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

With all the talk about fatigue I just had to read up on it a more, so Friday night I spent most of the evening on the net doing some research. Thinks Miskiet and Cloud Warrior for pointing me in the right direction. The way I understand it I think that Miskiet is correct, if it is designed for 4G's...

Re: Building the new Bushbaby SAFARI

Well oupa is on his way to Pemba. He did manage to do a flight this morning and asked me to post these photos. He is very happy with the engine and it runs very smoothly, even sound better than the previous one but maybe it is just our imagination...

Dankie oupsG but I think that this is to big an offer to accept. Your moral support and help is more than enough.

Re: Cobra with Toyota Yaris 1NZ motor :

i really like this idea as an alternative engine. The four cylinders makes it much easier to find an ECU. Did you find the gearbox on the internet? I think that everybody is very curious exactly how much it is going to weigh. Can you please keep track of each separate item as you mount them includin...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Boet, gaan jy nou begin trikes bou ? :) Cloud Warrior I will not be using any standard to build this - it is an experimental home build so I will try and use as much commonsense as possible. I am not sure what CAA requires but I know they want a static load test which I will do with sandbags up to a...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Glad some people are interested in building a trike. I think trikes are a bit out of fashion at the moment but if you want to really fly, this is the only way to fly with the wind in your face and you feel the air movement as it plugs on the wing. By making the plans available I hope to make trike f...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Well Charl, I sort of assumed that I do not have to mention that it does not have a profile tube in front. Is there ather way to build a trike? vhpy Yes the main concept is based on the DTA Voyageur. The DTA uses a complicated boxed section pylon made from aluminum, rivets, a cables and glue as I un...

Scratch build a Trike

I have just started on scratch building a trike. It will be build based on my own plans but a lot of the ideas will be based on existing designs, especially on Vliegvark's ideas. (No need to reinvent the wheel.) The main features will be: 1) Use as much commonly available material and components 2) ...

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE

A few word on the ECU's. Justin, grostek and tandemtod have made very valid comments about the difference between a car ECU and what you would like in an airplane: cars ECU's are designed to protect the engine while plane ECU's must be designed to fly until it die(s). Regarding the Gotech: we have t...

Re: Building the new Bushbaby SAFARI

To clarify some of Oupa-G's statements and answer Miskiet: Miskiet is correct that you can only get maximum fuel efficiency with a lambda or similar sensor feedback system. While we might attempt to do this in future I am a bit hesitant to do it at this point because I would like the current system ...

Re: Propellar chips

I will use the Q bond. We had to fix oupaG's prop once on a trip and he is still flying with it.
The Blits stick and baking soda does work as well but the Qbond you can get in black to match the prop.

Re: Building the new Bushbaby SAFARI

Took this photo this afternoon just before oupa took off for a test flight (yes he did file a flight plan, I have to agree that this is totally ridiculous, FIFA is worse than the mafia and we are going to pay for this for years to come while they walk away with all the money.)
