Re: Securing a fuel filter
I know of a certain old timer microlighter who uses cable ties as standard practice and has never had a problem with them. All you are doing is restricting the ID of the fuel hose so that it cannot move over the barb of the fuel filter. Not much pressure required around the hose to achieve this. My ...

Re: Mike Taylor (ZU-DVL) and Land of Cloud Cuckoo
I bought Mike's book from him after I came across the "discussion" between Mike and Gert on the BMAA forum. Not much flying in it but very inspirational for those of us near to a mid life crisis. Also Mike was a very nice guy to deal with. Seems like quite a character.

Omaruru Microlighters
I am currently on holiday with my in-laws in Karibib, Namibia. I went through to Omaruru this morning and after escaping from the women who wanted to visit the local chocolate factory, I discovered the small airstrip there. The resident caretaker kindly showed me around the hangars. Very impressive ...

Aquilla II Hangpoint
What is the standard hang point position for an Aquilla II wing? Our airfields CFI took up my trike the other day and declared it very "pitch sensitive". He normally flies an Airborne trike. This was his first time on an Aquilla. I just thought that was the way my wing flew not having any time on ot...

Re: Peltor headset repair
You should be able to wedge a knife / screwdriver in between the black plastic of the ear muff and the green shell to separate the two. I would have a look inside to make sure it is not something obvious like a loose connection. Not sure who can repair locally. You might have to send them back to th...

Do you have to wear lead underpants once you have fitted a transponder to your trike? I am still planning on having another kid first before I fit any kind of transmitting antenna under my butt...........

Re: New to weight shift in Cape Town
As far as I know - and Morph will help me out here - there are only 3 active trike instructors in or near Cape Town. I trained with Johann Froneman in Saldanha. Its a great place to train. Long, long tar runway. No blue gum trees! Great bunch of guys at the club as well. Johann has been flying trike...

Re: New to weight shift in Cape Town
Aaaaah but the times when you do get to fly make up for all those lousy days. And sitting in the hangar, watching the windsock, drinking coffee and telling old war stories is not a bad pastime either.
