Re: Tension on battons
Bending battens works. However not every one bends the right battens at the correct centre of lift area. For that reason the tip cups are installed. Look inside the wingtip and you will see that a reference line (on Aquila a permanent marker line) is drawn between cup and leading edge. The slightest...

Re: The Eagle has Landed ???????
If wargames is very hot, but not there, then my guess is you are the new developer of an old flightpark / runway and will be opening your school there, inclusive of a French trike franchise, with a bar and CAN-CAN bar ladies. It is 5 minutes from your house, and with the lotto money you told your bo...

Re: The Eagle has Landed ???????
I should have it now. Put the beers in the refrigerated post. 1. You got your drivers licence renewed without bribes. 2. The tests showed your wife was not pregnant (after all). 3. You got a job at CAA. 4. One of your Rotax overall's had an engine-out (hence eagle has landed). 5. MISASA has offered ...

Re: Sunday afternoon flight
A very beautifull photo record. Damn though for not having a photo of my place. Missed it between Pelindaba and Jimmy Kruger's runway. But then again, it is difficult to take a photo beneath you !

I will go and have a look. But by golly, you did come over my place at Witwatersberg like a KWiK possessed by a Demon ! 15h30 I think. Looked good with Ratman out on the left.

Re: Tension on battons
Gert, before you start "tuning" your battens, rather decrease the angle of attack on your left wingtip cup, or increase aoa on the right wing tip cup. Only if that does not work should you start tuning battens.

Cool idea ! Keep us posted closer to the time. I'm sure we can arrange a "taxi" from Mawala to the venue through Evert, owner ofMawala.

Re: Winglets
Arnulf, I would have thought a spat "winglet" would affect yaw (vertical) axis or maybe, maybe a bit on the lateral axis (pitch stability) when the drag of a spat might create a dolphin effect on the pendulum of the undercarriage. But explain to me how it will improve Longitudinal (roll) stability ?...

Re: Number of Licensed Microlight Pilots
Accepted, but surely they should have some sort of data base where you type in the word "MPL" and you'll get an answer ? However, having read the recent interview between Guy from SA Flyer and Colin Jordaan, it does sound as if they (SACAA) were further down the tubes than we thought. Well, at least...

Winglets
Winglets on the wingtips makes a lot of sence. Vortex control etc. From personal experience a wingtip winglet will bring your bar neutral position back with 1 - 3 inches, allowing you to adjust the hangpoint for a faster neutral position. But what aerodynamic sense is there for winglets on wheel spat...

Re: Nose Fairing
Jaco, I do not believe that the blue cone can have any effect on your take-off run. The very high angled perspex screen however will definitely tend to push your nose down into the ground as you accelerate on take-off. See if you can remove the screen and try it again. Once in flight, you will find ...
