I have to agree with Bennie! HAve you check the pick-up line in the tank, it may be getting sucked up against the wall of the tank. Also check the breather on the fuel tank, it may be blocked or too small. These are typical signs of fuel starvation. Please advise the following: Total operating time ...

First to answer kb's question: I assume you're asking about signs of detonation - 1. While operating in the high range (5800 - 6500 rpm) you may feel a slight flat spot/jerk, this may be accompanied by a spike in the EGT readings if you have gauges to measure this. 2. Melt droplets around the spark ...

Lead has been used in fuel to boost the octane rating and with the phasing out of lead, some fuel companies started using MMT which contains manganese to boost the octane. This was also phased out as it's also a 'heavy metal" and manganese is just so unstable. Almost all unleaded fuel contains alcoh...

The most comman cause of failure on these rubber sockets is over-tigtening of the clamps. The clamps should be tightened until you hvae a gap of approx. 7mm between the clamp ends. Although your picture is not very clear it appears to me that the clamp is over-tightened. I have found that these sock...

Before I confirm that you should block off part of your radiator, lets try and determine if the gauge and sender are in fact giving you the correct information. It is very important that a gauge is calibrated to the sender unit being used. Therefore it is important to always purchase the gauge and s...

The cooling circuit on the new 582 mod 99 with the blue cylinder head works very differently to the older engines. The thermostat in the older 582 would restrict the coolant flow when the engine was cold and would start to open at around 60 degC in an attempt to maintain the temperatures between 60 ...

What is the total hous of operation? How often is the aircraft flown? When last were the needles and needle jets replaced? Have you checked for water in your fuel? Carb icing is a reality, but if you are flying with others and you are the only one experiencing problems, very unlikely. Try using AVGA...
