Re: Microlight Helmets

Hey Guys have a look on http://www.gtflycom.co.za for Microlight Helmets Gerrit or Michelle GTFlycom 0824000351 0121110085 The GTFly.com helmets are 1000% better than the "one size fits all with gaps for cooling" rubbish offered previously. I talk from experience having purchased and flown with the...

Re: SEARCH AND RESCUE - In Case of Emergency

Thank you very much for your input John, greatly appreciated. I asked our local flying group their opinion on the idea and feedback was very positive. We have started a trial Microland SAR watsapp group at Microland to see how it works out, would be awesome if other fields did something similar. Wi...

I would support changing at 100 hours. The 2-stroke oil comes in sealed containers and therefore the chance of any contamination is extremely low.

Re: SEARCH AND RESCUE - In Case of Emergency

This is a SMS Flight Plan I did for a 5 hour flight to Marble Hall and back. Clearly, one of the keys to making such a flight plan available is to STICK TO IT! Venturing off the stated flight plan simply complicates any S&R effort. This SMS Flight Plan was SMSed to two family members who had been br...

Re: SEARCH AND RESCUE - In Case of Emergency

Just a thought I have recently come up with and would like to bounce the idea amoungst the rest of you (I know I may get a slap on the wrists from some). I am well aware that there are a lot of microlighters/lsa pilots that fly around the patch or from place to place without filing a flight plan or...

The crack is right where the fuel pick-up goes through the tank - obviously as result of overtightening.
I would suggest approaching the companies that weld/repair plastic bumpers for cars.

Hi Gerrit,

What does the INSIDE of the helmet comprise of, and are they adjustable, or do you sell different sizes?

Thanks, John

6 Dams Flight

Hey Fellow Pilots! Low flying along the edges of a dam is always a special thrill. Besides you being assured (in most cases) of there not being any cables at the water's edge, with the levels being so low at the moment due to the drought, the risks of have to conduct an emergency landing from low le...

Low-Flying in Big Five Country!

OK, so the topic header is a little OTT, but I had to get your attention! So yes, John.com is back in SA for a few weeks and getting as much 'airtime' as possible. Last Sunday, with the weather looking really great, I headed out to Marble Hall, lost the PAX and installed my long-range tanks. My rout...

Re: MGL Stratomaster

Afimative, it is flat battery, a CR2032 if my memory serves me correctly.

I had a hell of a struggle getting the unit out to replace it. Getting a spanner in the back of the unit is really tricky.

Good luck.

Re: Rotax Autolube bottle R450

I found the best way to prevent the cap from cracking is to cut a gasket from thin conveyor belt and place this over the threaded sleeve which then ebables the bottom of the cap to tighten on the gasket and not against the top of the threaded sleeve which causes the crack. Many thanks! R410.12 wort...

Re: Rotax Autolube bottle R450

Yes, just the cap! Insane! Oh, and by the way, that is the SECOND one in a year (see crack on picture below). These caps have a design/manufacturing flaw which allows them to crack between the threaded sleeve and the 'cap' part of the lid if you apply even the slightest pressure when tighte...
