Re: Raven + Jabiru 2200 or 3300?

Hi All, Spent most of the weekend on the net looking for information on any 601's flying with Jabiru 2200, found absolutely nothing... some pictures and FWF kits, but no performance data at all. Now I'm more than a little worried that I might spend all this lovely money on an engine (Jab 2200) that...

Re: Justin's Raven

Hi Justin,

Well done, it gets easier as you make more parts, next week you will say to yourself " Why didn't I do that sooner?"

How about a pic of the part you made, please.

Kind Regards,

Re: Piet Fourie - CAA - Big thumbs up

Thansk Piet Fourie at CAA. I have sent him my request with all the paperwork for my little aerie's proving authority to fly. He just came back to me to say it is ready and he mailed me a copy. BIG thumbs up - I REALLY appreciate it man. So this weekend she will lift her wheels off the ground... And...

Re: Ravin + Jabiru 2200 ?

Hi T4flyer,

How many hours did the VW 2.2 do before you decided to overhaul the engine and how much is the overhaul going to cost you?

Kind regards,

Re: Justin's Raven

Picked up the type 4 motor, and spent about an hour drooling over it. It looks like someone at VW said 'Let's make an aero engine', and then went and built this. Motor is solid, and simple. Heads have at least double the cooling capacity of the type 1. Oil filter and oil cooler are in exactly the r...

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE

Hi Boet, Just as a matter of interest - did you ever consider the VW Golf engine? From what little info I can find on the web, it seems to weigh in at around the same as a type 4 VW (230lbs), and is good for 120hp. Costs nothing to maintain and overhaul, and I have seen guys beat the cr@p out of th...

Re: Painting advice, please?

Hi Justin, Read Morphs post and there he says that the 2K system uses about 10% Thinners, this is correct so it follows that when your paint is dry it will weigh what you used minus that 10%. Ask at the paint shop, they have a special ruler that you place in your mixing pot and this ruler is marked ...

Re: Painting advice, please?

Hi Justin, The 2K system works well on Aluminum. The secret to a good finish is preperation, hence scuff the surface of the whole areas to be painted with scotch brite so that the paint has a rough surface to cling to. Then spray a primer (Metal Primer), next spray an undercoat (Universal Undercoat)...
