If this is not set properly, the float needle will not press hard enough against the float needle seat and the fuel will fill the float bowls and overflow through the vent tubes. Alternatively the fuel level will be too low in the bowls leading to fuel starvation Adjust by bending the part that acti...

Re: Oil presure Rotax 912ULS

Comet sell a fix for the ball and spring, part 100857230, Oil Pressure Control Valve, about R180. replaces the ball and string. I am thinking of moving my VDO off the engine and mounting it on the firewall, with a flexible rubber tube connecting it to the engine. I replaced two VDO sendors in 100 ho...

Re: Please pass on this Free SMS offer from RAASA to schools

SMS stand for Safety Management System

Each school and club should implement this system. It defines the management of safety at an airfield, including handling of accidents, injuries etc. Really important

Re: Help on carb tuning...

One thing that does puzzle me is why the idling is down as well. Could be fuel restriction feeding the carbs or a crack in the vaccum pipe that operates the fuel pump. This is the pipe that connects from the engine to the centre bottom of the fuel pump. Do you have a backup electric fuel pump? If yo...

Re: Differing temps between 2 EGT's

The issue that I have is that the one that was usually lower, is now quite a bit lower. 525 degrees was the usual temp for the one, while the other was at 490.. It's now at 460 - and there doesnt seem to be any performance issues.. OK so the change is not on the hotter one, rather the cooler one. I...

Re: Differing temps between 2 EGT's

Deg C or F 70 degC is a problem, 70 Deg F is not (21deg C) I would give the carbs a lekker service, clean them out and check that there is no constrictions in the jets etc. Check the carb boots for cracks, an air leak will lean the mix, increasing egt on one piston If this is all OK, then check the ...
