Re: Building the Long EZ
Pics will be awesome!
Hmm I *think* if you go to the full editor by clicking on "POSTREPLY" or "Quick reply" and then "full editor", you just select the "Upload attachment" tab under the editor to upload your picture.

Re: Building the Long EZ
3 Months on!
Surely all practice projects must be done by now...
Has the main build been started?

I love this thread!
Maybe its time to look into using LED strobe lights. Will save some weight and no external power supply or strobe unit needed. So interference and high voltage issues also negated.

Re: ELA G10-Eclipse gyroplane
Bump!
Any Eclipse gyro-planes in SA yet?
On paper it has the Calidus (The closest competition) beat in terms of passenger comfort and baggage space, while the rest of the specifications are pretty similar.
So I'm pretty excited to see one in the flesh.

Re: Building the Long EZ
The Buzz, did you consider the Berkut as well? Its basically an evolution of the Long EZ thats even faster, has nice features like retractable gear, and it has pre-fabricated components available to save some building time. Uses a bit of carbon fibre too. A bit more $$$ though. I guess what I'm actu...

Re: Building the Long EZ
A quick study on the long-ez forums reveals that a long-ez with any less power than the o-320 is just impractical in terms of runway length. Canard aircraft at the best of times need a very long runway. Now rob the long-ez of power and put two people in it and you are just looking for trouble. From ...

Re: Building the Long EZ
Interestingly canard aircraft are actually fundamentally inefficient. Great feat by Rutan overcoming these inherited drawbacks. Some semi balanced reading on the subject: http://www.apollocanard.com/4_canard%20myths.htm Interesting about the top speed not improving with larger engine. Did not know t...

Wow I shall be following this thread with interest!
Would love to do a project like this but the average build time seems to be 6+ years which is a bit . Hope you are very good friends with your building buddy
Now where are the pictures? Bulkheads done yet?

Re: Gyrocopter training Pretoria
Nomie, why not take a week or 2 leave and go down to the Cape and do some awesome flying/training with Greg Vos? Beautiful part of the world, lots of different scenarios great for training and then you also have a great guy looking after you for a few weeks vhpy Now that is tempting. And he did pro...
