Re: Student Advice on Trike
I too bought a 'cheapie' windlass 503, and she has been very good to me. The flying characteristics of a trike is predominantly affected by the wing, model and surface area. While a heavier cart does have an affect on the handling, much the same way as flying with a pax slightly minimizes the effect...

Hi Vernon, ja hey it was a blow. But hey what doesn't kill you... Did you ever manage to find a local source for the landing gear leg?

Re: Challenger 11 shortwing 503
I do. Haven't flown it myself. Because it was to marginal for training. Instructor ended up crashing it while he was moving it to a tar airfield where I would start my training. Still repairing. It would not take off from FABA 2up.

Re: For Sale: Supermarine Aircraft Spitfire Mk26 Replica
This is an awesome looking airplane, a replica of the airplanes my grandad use to tell me about as we sat wide eyed children listening to his war stories. The golden age of flight, anyone would be lucky to own such an aircraft. Good luck with the sale.

Re: Winglets
Keen to try this miracle in flex wing aviation, need a little more info though. @Jhon.com did you see a difference in performance of the trike? Has anyone else tried them, perhaps here in reef conditions? The theory of operation is sound, then again so is putting a spoiler on your tazz.

Re: Mandatory Transponder requirement
This is obscene! This has serious implications on feasibility of recreational flying. What can we as a community do against this?

Re: flying in low visibility
I was reading up on some of the limitations that delta-wing aircraft had, and found this paper by Dr. Guy Gratton, MSETP written for the BMAA. You can read the paper at http://www.hgfa.asn.au/resources/GrattonNewman_TumbleResistance.pdf . The short and sweet of the paper is this, all/most trikes hav...

Re: Challenger 11 landing gear
I called around PTA and JHB, starting at non-ferrous metals in PTA, they all lock up when you start saying its for an airplane. Eish, Quad City have not yet come back to me on how much the shipping would be on my stringer, main gear weldment and ribs. They did suggested that I buy a whole new ...

Re: Challenger 11 landing gear
Hi Vernon.
I am also looking for one. And a few other parts. If you come right locally, please let me know. Otherwise, you are looking at $50 US, from the Challenger factory, without shipping and import tax.

Re: Challenger/Rotax 503 advice please.
Just a quick update. I have stripped the airframe, engine and all and will be starting some repairs this coming month. The parts at first glance look to be about 6k from Challenger, without shipping. Will be shopping around locally as soon as I have some cash on hand. The recovering of the fuselage ...
