Re: SHADOW OF GYRO

Hi Magnificent

I don't know why you did't post this earlier. It makes the whole debate about gyroscopic precession much clearer. In fact one can see quite clearly why the effect of a control input to the rotor only has an effect after 90 degrees.

Re: Gyro Flying and Life Insurance

Hi Jabi430 I got the wrong end of the stick then. I am on a group life insurance scheme and whenever anything changes I let the insurer know that I fly gyroplanes. To date the insurer has not come back to me and I presume that they are OK with this. They had better be because in this instance I thin...

Re: Gyro Flying and Insurance

Hi Jabi Glad to see that you are enjoying DUO (well you seem to be judging from the photographs I have seen on the web although you should pupm up the front tyre occasionally or lose some weight vhpy ). I was not too unhappy about the insurance for DUO when I had her and the new one I cannot comment...

Re: Downdraft induced accidents. Busting the myth...

Hi All When I was training we occasionally used to take off from a wheel balance by adding power until the mains unstuck and then lowering the nose to gain speed before climbing out. The problem is that you forget and I did until it was reinforced by a few lessons again - taking off downwind (slight...

Re: Another Proud Gyronaut Solo in the Western Cape

Hi Paul

Well done although I am sure that no-one doubted that you would do it.

Now you can come up here and visit in DUO.

Re: The bad side of flying!!!!

Hi Leprachaun

I hear you and it is sickening but is it not time that the airforce put to good use some of the rather expensive hardware I have partially paid for. All you need to do is force one or two choppers down and confiscate them and this particular practice will stop.

Re: Gyro Fly-in: Kitty Hawk: 5 December 2009

Hi All

OK JetRanger - here are mine - unedited except for resizing - hopefully small enough to be acceptable but not quite microdot size. I took them in the early morning with one pass through the flight line so I will have missed some and they are almost all the same with regard composition.

Re: HELP PLEASE .

Hi Jabi

When I did mine I was referred to the gyroplane sections of the Rotorcraft Flying Handbook.

Flynote posted the link here, it is: http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aircraft/

The gyroplane sections are chapters 15 to 22.

It is fairly easy reading - have fun.

Re: The boytjies at CAA are wide awake?????

Hi All Thanks for the vote of confidence JetRanger. Just for the record, I am robably one of the meekest and most mild persons you are likely to meet unless I am paid to be otherwise and, as I cannot afford my rates, I never become angry in my own cause. Whiloe the position may not be as simple as s...

Re: The boytjies at CAA are wide awake?????

Hi All I think that the simple way around this is for the buyer to pay R1.00 less on the price and for the contract to state that ownership will pass once the purchase price is paid in full. When the aircraft is ferried and arrives at its final destination the outstanding R1.00 is paid and ownership...

Re: MINIKOPTER MKII

Hi All I am surprised that more of these have not been built. If you look at my avtar you will see the 1940's prototype. The inboard portions of the rotors are hollow and form the fuel tanks. Centrifugal force ensured that fuel pressure was maintained without fuel pumps or any of that complex machin...

Hi Paul

Very well done. I am glad that DUO is performing up to expectations.

With luck I should go solo again within a year or so :-)
