Re: Cobra with Toyota Yaris 1NZ motor :

Great Jaco!!

The gearbox looks very interesting - smaller than what I would have guessed.

I do not think that the dominant noise will be the gearbox, it is nearly always the propeller when you fly.

Keep up the good work!!

Re: BMW Engined Aquilla

Jay, do not hesitate to phone if I can help with the tuning. I know it is a bit intimidating in the beginning. I also hope to visit you guys as soon as you are ready - just try and make it before the word cup otherwise the tickets are to expensive - or maybe they give them away for free if I go and ...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

I have done some planning and design the past couple of weeks. Below is my latest 'creation'. If you guess that his is a new gun that you can use in a computer game, you are in agreement with my son. (He just wants to know if he can try it out.) If you guessed that it is a 'new' actuator design for ...

Re: TOYOTA YARIS ENGINE

Well done Dieseldog! I think that everybody is as exited as you about this. About the fuel system I can confirm that the fuel will not flow back through the fuel pump if it is not switched on. If does not have a non return valve but if you cut it open you will see that it is mechanically impossible ...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

I am glad your guys are sorting this out because I would not have been able to answer the question. I do not worry about it because it has never been an issue that I feel as if the bar might be torn from my hands, not to the front anyway. It is also true that it even if I leave the bar it will alway...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Ystervark What prevents the control bar (& wing from flying up) from going too far forward without the front strut there? Cheers Sebastian Sebastian Good question. It can actually go forward all the way. On the DTA they have a bracket at the top of the pylon that stops it. Below is a photo of one (...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Re: Scratch build a Trike

I have been quiet for a while, mainly because I have worked on the trike and I had to do a bit of flying as well. vhpy I also replaced my old computer with a new one and installing all the software and configuring it takes quite a bit of time. Since my last post I got most of my stainless steel and ...

Re: New regs Part 62.10

Sorry to step on some toes but I have a problem with adding more rules for so called safety. First show how many incidences happened where this would have made is safer, next show me that where test flight were done that it was safer. I do not have the numbers for this but if I have to guess based o...

Re: 582 Aquila running hot

I also have 582 on my trike that runs a bit hot sometimes (I normally land when it goes over 80). Here are some of the lessons I have learned: - I can fly safely up to a certain air temperature without overheating (about 30-33 degrees for my trike) - As mentioned the antifreeze mixture is very impor...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Thanks Mark, (Mark has graciously offered that I can put the design on his website http://www.freetoadventure.com/ from where people will be able to download the CAD files and images) Today I will discuss the frame and explain my ideas around it. As usual feel free to disagree. The frame is used mai...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Monday evening I have spent time with a friend looking at the pylon strength. He did a quick FEM analysis (quick is 4 hours later) and he thinks that it is not strong enough. I will do some more calculations but for that I need a new computer (mine is still running windows 2000 and the software want...
