Re: Highjump
Bl*ody expensive for a non-event ! He would have died a meat-bomb anyway (-) . When Judy Lenen did her record breaking hang glide balloon drop from halve the height (60 000 ft) she had her eyelid and -brows (inside a helmet) frozen. "Boer" was right, WHY ? But then again, look at jet-man on u-tube. ...

Re: 20 Girls in 4,5 hours
WOW ! Best I did was 14 in 5 hours. My daughter's birthday. Stop. Switch off. Goggles off. Headset off. Seatbelt off. Get out. "Don't step there !" Next one. Pockets empty ? "Don't step there!" Seatbelt. Adjust headset. Adjust goggles. "Camera strap around your wrist", get in. Clear prop. Start. Man...

Re: Need help with a wing. Feels like being forced down.
Hey Coastwise, I am very glad you re sorted. Amazing how a small little thing can affect a wing so much ! Sorry for not replying earlier to your PM. but I was out of the country and only got your PM this morning at my desk. Anyway, Manfred would also have been my next suggestion. Happy flying and tr...

I would seriously suggest you get the number of Yaroslav from Brits Flying Club. 012 255 5945. I was there the other day and he has been building their hangars for the past year. He is retired, but his workmanship is lovely. I am sure Yaroslav would consider building in Springs. Hope you win this one.

Coastwise, Sounds not well. The fact that you(110kg), instructor(85kg), 582 and halve fuel (20 kg) on the wing type sounds lke you are pushing boundaries for starters. That wing is a performance wing, and good at it anyway ! But that is one thing. Couple of questions. 1. What is the position of your...

Last time I landed there (1 year ago): No field frequency: 124.80 No fuel: Took the wing off and cruised into town to the nearest Caltex. From the airfield, through narrow gate, onto main road into town, maybe 1 km to Caltex on left. No joining: Just join overhead at 1500. Mountain is 1km to the sou...

Typically you will have to inspect one of 2 places. You could do it with the sail on, but preferably with the wing de-tensioned. The 1st is where the outer leading edge sleeves into the inner leading edge. Where the outer- and inner leading edge sleeve together is your first stress point and compres...

You could also contact Michael Coetzee (Mike Spike) who is running a very good school in Gauteng. He concentrates a lot on towing training which seems to be the future for hang gliding. Contact him at 0828923664. There is a hang gliding event coming up at Bulwer during the coming winter. This could ...
