Re: Rotax 912 Oil Pressure Sensor Problem

After 2 failures in 700 hours, I have now mounted my sensor on the firewall - will see how long this one lasts.

Re: iEFIS Explorer Navigation & Checklist help please

I am surprised that you have not had a response from MGL, Ranier has always been very helpful with my queries, admittedly, I have always contacted him by phone.

Re: Can anyone explain this to me?

I suggest that you contact Micro Craft Africa - the manufacturers of the Aquilla, and I am sure that they will help you out.

Re: Airfield St Lucia

The Avcom threads relates to the field at Mbazwane, close to Sodwana. The airfield at St. Lucia closed many years ago. The closest is the Monzi strip, about 10 miles straight line from St' Lucia, and then there is an ex military strip outside Mtubatuba (121 Battalion) Be aware of the height restrict...

Re: Solar-Heat pump or just the geyser

Some further information on heat pumps, unlike Low Level's experience, during last year's Winter in Underberg, where the temps went down to around minus 3 during the night, we still had hot water, although the compressor did run for about 4 - 5 hours per day during this time - maybe different design...

Re: no licence for single seater trike

Hi in the sticks, I am surprised to hear that you do not need a licence to fly a single seater trike - have you confirmed this with RAASA? There are many single seater microlights in SA, and as far as I am aware ( I am no expert with aviation law) they all require a licence. With that in mind, witho...

Air Magic After Sales Service

Good after sales service - a scarce commodity in SA, however, Air Magic continues to amaze. I have had my Air Magic intercom and headsets now for more than 5 years and recently had some problems with the headset / intercom connection jacks. I dropped the system off with Paul, and in no time at all t...

Re: Tail dragger for Zambia - lots of questions!

Hi Africanex, I have a friend who flies a trike in Zambia, if you want, I can supply his contact details. He imported his plane from South Africa, and it took around 2 years for him to get airborn, but maybe talking to him can assist in reducing this time. PM me your email address if you want to go ...

Re: Can I have your opinion !

At my age, comfort beats sex appeal every time vhpy I purchased my trike, without the forethought of getting advice from the wider microlighting community, whilst still doing my training some 11 years ago. At the time it suited my needs and 11 years later I am still very happy with it, not the faste...

I recently bought an oval one from the local K&N suppliers, way cheaper than our local friendly Rotax agents.

Re: Transponder for trike

Hi Buks, for what it's worth - mode S is not mandatory, and you pay a premuim for this. I am told that at this stage there is no pending legislation that will make mode S compulsory. I was conned into buying a mode S, my own fault for not doing sufficient research, and after 6 years, I have still no...

Re: hirth 3503 does not want to start

Glad you sorted out the problem - agree with Turbo, if you are battling to start, take a plug out, if it is wet, then you have fuel, although it may be flooded. Then check with the removed plug, if you have spark, and you have not fiddled with the timing etc, she has to start. :)

Re: BRS?

I have read pilot's report on two different BRS usages, both were as a result of VFR into IMC, both had a happy outcome, no injuries, although some damage to the planes. Agree with previous posts re a false sence of security - a point not discussed in the reports was whether the pilots continued in ...
