Re: PETROL FILTERS.......AGAIN!! But please look
Not sure of the Aquila even has a strainer. They are usually installed into planes where you cannot look into the tank. You should be able to look into your tank and see any large debris in there like leaves. If take the take out and rinse it out

Re: Mag test.
What does a mag-drop test prove? Normal operation both mags are on, and both plugs per piston is firing, engine is running smoothly switch A off, half the plugs are now firing, causing the rpm to drop slightly and engine run rough. The engine is running on Mag B Switch A back on and Switch B off. Yo...

Re: PETROL FILTERS.......AGAIN!! But please look
That stupid little pice of glass rubbish was nearly the cause of my only engine out ever!!!!, and just 5 hourrs after cleaning. Fortunately, facet saved the day. they are too small. Paper fuel filters are supposed to be a no-no, purely because paper is supposed to swell when water touches it, never ...

Re: Can microlights wings fail??
Phislett, I think you missed the point completely, structural failures are NOT your biggest concern, you are!!!!
Pilot errors are the biggest single cause,, i.e. fuel mismanagement, low level flight into cables, bad maintenance etc

Re: Rotax 503 - Carb Needle setting??
On a 582 you have a water temp probe on the top of the head, that measure the water temperature. 65 to 80 deg C is correct for this. If you want to read the CHT you need to place a probe on the head itself, usually around the sparkplug, or on one of the head bolts close to the spark plug

CHT is at about 110 degrees celius and the EGT's are both just above 500 at cruise and about 580 at takefoff.

Re: How does the radio system work in microlights??
I see now! When I went on the flight I noticed we could speak and now again other people would interrupt and he would start to communicate with them as we'll.. As Bundy mentioned we fly in different airspaces, each requiring a different method of radio communication. This is why radio is a major su...

Re: 912 Warm up
Without an oil thermostat takes significantly longer. I typically would start up and as soon as the mgl gauge starts moving, usually at about 25 deg C I would start a nice slow taxi to the holding point. By the time I get there it is over 50 and ready for mag checks

Re: Can microlights wings fail??
Structural failure is very very very rare. It will only happen if you and the aircraft fly in conditions that far exceed yours and the plane's capabilities. If you choose the right weather, maintain your aircraft you will never have this problem. Your biggest risks are one of two things 1. running o...

Re: Carb flooding
Which facet pump do you have installed? The correct one is 40104 with a pump pressure is 1.5 to 4 Psi or 40105 3-4.5psi. The moment that pressure is reached it should stop pumping
You get models with pressures up to 9psi which is too high
