Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

Chobe National Park was a distant second to Vic Falls but still incredibly scenic. Thanks to Nick and Paul 7 others for photo and video material.

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

Fanie daai laaang rwy. is darem baie gerusstellend teenoor die 200 nm. se bos waaroor ons tussen Selibe Phikwe en Nata die vorige dag gevlieg het en waar selfs 'n chopper nie sou kon land nie. My kop staan terug Gaberone toe. Ek wil daai laaste been klaarmaak.

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

I have to agree with you Paul. One can't quantify the experience. It outlasts the costs everytime. Tnx. I received the logo and it looks great in the next video of the leg between Serlibe Phikwe and Nata. Baie bome as jy kortpad kies

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

Editing hours of footage is a bitch. Just finished Part 1 of my trip. Not much to work with on the S.A leg but scenery improves in Botswana.

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

Enjoyed following your trips gents, and ladies. Just a question on the Vic Falls flying / no flying. Do you think the current chopper and microlight tour operators have some sort of concession (or even a grip on the decision makers) that they had the power to deny you access to the airspcae over th...

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

Tnx Frank. Some pictures please. We heard you reporting on the radio when you landed at the lodge. We were also in that area at time. Tnx Louis. We are waiting anxiously for the next chapter in your report. We are thinking of having a slide show in the background at the next Microland Braai on the ...

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

Bly a...

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

If I thought the previous day was bad, Day 17 would turn out to be worse by far. The weather front appeared to have passed and even Windguru was happy for me to go. We decided to change our route plan and enter S.A. via Gaberone to Pilanesberg instead of via Polokwane. We were ready to go at 05:20 a...

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

The flight back to Sua Pans again over Motopi and a pitstop on the road close to Gweta was again in perfect weather conditions and we touched down after a 3hr 15 mins leg about 18 mins. faster than the inbound leg. In the mean time We'd heared that Tiaan experienced engine problems close to the Rama...

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

We flew into Maun airport in no particular order and about 7 trikes joined on a RH down wind for 08 with very little separation between us. Katsile, the very efficient ATC for the day tried bravely to issue joining and landing instructions amidst all the pilots desperately trying to announce their i...

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

Day 9 had us all lined up at sparrow and we were off for Sua Pans on a 318 km leg. One of the pilots forgot to close the choke completely and landed briefly before setting off after us. We landed on of the dedicated landing strips on the tar road for a fuel stop without incident and followed the lon...

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

I have flown accross the border a few times and have only had problems on the South African side. At Selibe Phikwe one of the CAAB officials rented their house to us for the night and at Nata the CAAB officials guarded our trike overnight. It is in stark contrast with the treatment I received at Upi...

Re: BOTSWANA fly-away 25 April to 10 May 2015

Tnx. Goose. Today was a huge disappointment. Our flight clearance for Zambia was verbally approved last night but had to be confirmed at 07:00 this morning. This deadline was moved to 10:00 and we had already cleared Customs and Immigration and pre-flighted when Mervyn who pulled all strings, was tol...
