There is no law, there was never a law, banning amphibs. Search Avcom and you will find my detailed post of about 5 years ago.
The hyacinth threat made the, then Department of Water Affairs and Forestry issue, an advisory, but you will find that it was never passed as law.

Re: Magnetic field strength
The further you move away from a magnet, the weaker the magnetic field would be. Hence the decreasing strength numbers when moving south.

Re: Set-up and tuning of the Bing 54 carb
Stan,
The Bings do not adjust themselves for altitude. You get "sea-level" jets and "altitude" jets. I cannot remember what size jet for what altitude, but sure Comet might be able to give you that. I think "altitude" jets are 158's and "sea-level" jets are 165's.

Topmeteo that the glider pilots use for today for Brits.
Does not look bad, except some care to be taken between 14h00 and 16h00.

Arno Jantz's might also bring his 2.8 meter 5-cylinder radial warbird for a static display.
And not to be missed, if you attend, is a walk to the Kranskop Gliding Club hangar to take a flight in their amazing simulator.

We've pulled in some serious gurus on the weather, but it is looking positive, although everyone must please play it safe. Thanks Jetman vhpy . I'll do a short version again: The Tower will be manned by ATC from 08h00 to 16h00. If ATC is not yet on duty, do a normal unmanned procedure and join overh...
