hi all I hope some of you clever people can shed some light on this matter as I am getting plenty of different opinions. ($$) ($$) ($$) If a used Rotax 582 motor and gearbox (approx 200 hours) has stood for almost 3 years, what should one look out for? Here are some things that I have heard mentione...

Re: Stolen 582 Engines

Re: Stolen 582 Engines
greetings all thanks for all the support and encouragement. Its good to know that everyone is keeping a lookout for these items. The other pilot is John Skinner...he is also gutted and rightly so. Sadly, the evidence is pointing more and more towards an "aviator"... ..can't say too much at this stag...

Really sorry this happened guys, what is the "estimate" to repair? :( Alan, I got a quote today for a 582 and gearbox...cost R80k, then still need the prop..approx R 8000...plus repairs to the damaged stuff etc etc...I estimate R100k . I guess there mi...

Re: Stolen 582 Engines
hi all I have just been back down to have a look at my aerie now that my head is a bit clearer and I am not spitting mad. In answer to some of the mails above, It looks like they tried to cut the carburettor throttle cables but were not ablt to cut through, hence maybe why they simply cut the holdin...

Re: Stolen 582 Engines
hi guys I have been following all the comments and suggestions. I can't believe the support, camaraderie and anger displayed by our fellow pilots, its truly amazing that we are all united on this front. My biggest concern is that these thugs will simply target the next airfield/plane/trike and it wi...

Re: Stolen 582 Engines
Hi fellow aviators It is a very sad day for all pilots and lovers of this sport. I am the owner of one of the planes. The culprits ripped my Bushbaby cowls to pieces and simply cut all the wiring and pipes to get the eninge out. They even forced open my cupboard and threw the contents on the floor. ...

Re: 582 Water Temp.
hey Soekiwindi make sure you are running the correct anti freeze ratio and type.....after flushing mine recently, i mixed it 50-50 ( MIdas anti freeze).....the engine ran hot..83-85 degrees. I drained the mixture, and used castrol anti freeze...ratio of 90% distilled water -10% Castrol anti freeze. ...
