Re: Conservationist, reporter die in Mt Kenya crash
  Very sad. Weather related. I went to Kenya to help assemble this aircraft in 2008. It worked hard for them, operating out of the Nanyuke runway at 6,200ft amsl (and that's before DA!). The wreck was found at 14,500ft near the top of Mt Kenya. http://wolfganghthome.wordpress.com/2013/...

Re: Servicing costs ??
You can do the basic service yourself. This was changed in the legislation early in the year. Your annual must still be done by an AP. I would also like to see the official reference to this. On the Misasa website on 16 December 2008, James Pitman wrote "It appears that the question of owner mainte...

Have also sent Natasha emails but don't get a reply. Been up to my eyebrows in family stuff so haven't had time ...

Thanks Morph. Did CAA make any comment on the requirement of signal strips?

2. My pilots log book to reflect my currency in terms of the stupid new law which appears to have been given the green light at the instructors seminar, This is a really daft idea  If you crash and burn, so does your log book. As part of the post accident investigation, CAA should be looking...

Re: Ramp Inspection List
Interesting. I think you should add this to your post to CAA on Avcom, maybe Colin will take note. During a meeting with two CAA engineers late last year, I brought up the attitude of CAA inspectors. My feeling was that CAA could be a lot more proactive and approachable, and that way get more people...

Re: New LSA comming to SA
Before you pay any money, make sure you talk to CAA about Non-Type Acceptance. You will probably have to include the cost of a CAA engineer going on a holiday to the factory before you will even be able to register the aircraft.

Morph, this is why you get harassed. Carry an axe in future and you can be sure they will keep more than an arm's length from you.Morph wrote:The only exception is we do not require an axe since our aircraft is under 5700kg According to CAA (added to clarify my statement - Morph)

Re: Toilet roll cutting..
Cali, that takes care of your first question, but it is great fun and is done, so how about those who accidentally drop their roll of toilet paper whilst blowing their nose in flight answering the second part of the question

Re: Ballistic Chutes revisited
Maybe the chute manufacturers charge what they believe the market will pay, although I'm not sure this is necessarily the case. I know of 6 manufacturers and you would think that at least one of them would have gone with the idea of selling thousands of chutes for a very low price rather than hunder...

Re: Ballistic Chutes revisited
I have just read through this entire thread and the following are some thoughts that came to mind, in no particular order! Whether to fit a chute or not is a personal preference. Consider this scenario. Would you wear a helmet when riding a motorbike? You don’t plan on having an accident on your b...
