Re: Wing Tips

Sorry. I do not agree. I fitted winglets to my Aquilla with a 503 3 years ago. They definitely increased the speed by about 5 mph. The wing was more stable BUT when landing or flying where sensitivety was required then the wing was bit slower and heavier to move around quickly. Would I recommend the...

Re: Flying in the rain.

I agree with Kloot pilot. As a test I have purposely gone up above the field in light drizzle. Firstly put a plastic bag over radio so had coms all the time. Firstly no visible damage to prop but my prop regularly gets waxed so perhaps the Warp drive is immune. Goggles filled with water so much that...

Re: Aquilla 582 for sale as is without paperwork

Henni as a fellow pilot and regular viewer of this foirum just sharing with you. Most people I have ever met will not even consider buying an object unseen. Surely it is not too much trouble to take a quick photo of the plane with your phone and put it on the posting. The sword crossing and evasions...

Illegal flying

Jip many of us have probably bent or broken the rules or laws sometime. So in the spirit of trying to mend my ways, I must appeal to some guys I have heard of, PLEASE get your licences fixed up. A few recent events in my life and fellow pilots lives have sparked me into encouraging those of you who ...

Re: Weight shift training shortage in Eastern Cape.

There are also those that just moer aan wether training is available or not and fly without the right training or making an effort to get some. Well the results now starting to show down here. Increased activity from the Authorities, more stringent rules and accident rate creeping up. We are no ange...

Re: Micro instructor required

Renewals one can still make a plan but for ab adnitio it is a pain in the arse. VERY difficult for someone to train far from home. That is 300 km or more. We HAVE to get some kind of dispensation or trike flying is dead in its tracks.

Re: Weight shift training shortage in Eastern Cape.

Alan that was and is the purpose of this thread. You are the first who has seen the light on the forum with Tumbleweed and shown some positive input. I was really hoping more instructors would raise their voices. I know of two competent guys who are out their ready to assist but bound by regs not al...

Re: Weight shift training shortage in Eastern Cape.

Very well expressed Bundy.!, Unfortunately I am not as good with words or as diplomatic as you are. I am just a 61 year old flying enthusiat who wants others to share what I experience as economically as possible. The big thing I cannot understand is why Part 62 is so strict while Part 61 is so more...

Re: Weight shift training in Eastern Cape.

Since I have had no response from anybody, it would appear that we are either not keen on the future of trike flying or so selfish that it is bugger you Jack I am OK. That is a pity because we are going to pick the fruits of this next year or sooner. Regards Bryan. PS I am O K I have a Flight School...

Re: Weight shift training in Eastern Cape.

To stress how important this topic is, just think back how much training was being done in the Eastern cape 5 years ago. NOW we only have 1 active and legal school from Saldannah in the west and Bloemfontein in the North and Emoyeni in the East. Thats scary when we consider the future of trike flyin...

Re: Weight shift training in Eastern Cape.

Worse still. The pilot lives in the badlands. His licence expires . He continues flying. Then his farmer neighbour buys a second hand wreck of a trike and this guy the teaches him to fly . Why . Because it is now such a schlep to do it legally and the schools and facilities are hundreds of km away. ...

Re: Weight shift training in Eastern Cape.

There used tobe satellite schools. However the system was abused by fly by nights who did not operate to the set standards. The biggest problem I am thinking is that the effective policing of satellites was also not being done due to budgetry constraints. In saying this I must point out that we have...
