Re: Raptor trike for sale

Wow, that must be the bargain of the decade! Totally destroys the nearly non-existent market for 503 equipped trikes, but here we go. Good luck with the sale!

Re: Windlass/Aquilla trike for sale - price negotiable

Weather is starting to turn friendly for trike flying in the Western Cape. Perfect for test flying and delivery.

Price negotiable, say, starting at R40,000 for the whole package.

Re: Fuel tank fix?

Depending on the size of the hole, the EC776 'Scotch Weld' from 3M: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Aerospace/Aircraft/Prod_Info/Prod_Catalog/?PC_Z7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE20SOG5000000_nid=4X9DFQZFXQbe1K3HXBTMF8gl could work very well. Pour it in, swirl it around, turn the tank on each side...

Re: What is the correct prop for a Windlass, 503, B-Box?

Hi CVS, was nice chatting to you at Morningstar the other day! Thanks, the P-Prop Aquilla 63x35 is on and yes, there was a big wow effect: it completely changed the plane. Engine develops 6440 rpm under full throttle and climb, one up, was 850 ft/min compared to 450 ft/min with the old 63x34 (which ...

Re: spark plugs on a 503

Slightly relevant info: plug with resistor ('R') or not. I've been shown once the inside of NGK plugs with resistor and without. In the non-resistor type the connection to the top (outer) terminal is a flimsy little wire that can actually break loose from vibration quite easily. These plugs have a m...

Re: What is the correct prop for a Windlass, 503, B-Box?

Thanks, Oom Piet says the best for my application is his new 63x35 Aquilla airfoil propeller. The old one is not repairable, have to get a new one in any case. Hmm, the Morningstar tar runway is suddenly looking very attractive.

Cheers,

What is the correct prop for a Windlass, 503, B-Box?

I have a 63/34 2-blade P-Prop on my Windlass trike, Aquilla I wing, Rotax 503 DCDI, B-box. While doing a touch and go on our gravel runway and a stray stone took out the one tip and now the question is to repair to replace. With the old prop the engine develops full 6500 rpm, straight at level at +/...

Re: Carb flooding

That's the $1,000,000 question. Either they've never been level and somehow the worn valves compensated for it for a while or they got bent the wrong way by me or someone else while trying to set up the correct float level. Since the flooding started before any fiddling and continued after replacing...

Re: Carb flooding

Looks like the cause of the problem was that the two arms of the brass plate that is actuated by the floats were not level and only one float was pushing. One float wasn't enough to hold against the pressure of the fuel flow. Both carbs had the same issue, which resulted in the random pattern. Cheer...

Re: Carb flooding

Thanks for the suggestions. 1. Duck, yes, I understand that there are many unknowns. I've pretty much done - either myself or had it done by an AP - everything to the carbs as humanly possible: cleaned, checked, etc. Of course, there might be something that we overlooked and that's the sort of infor...
