Re: Engine failure 4Hrs after 8yr/450hr service
My crankshaft was not replaced, it was checked and was "supposed" to have been good and didn't need replacing. What gets my blood pressure up is that we are not allowed to have our cranks rebuilt, "at a fraction of the cost of a new one" which will be a lot safer than putting a 400hr crankshaft back...

Re: Engine failure 4Hrs after 8yr/450hr service
SORRY a little mistake. "I raced with a crank shaft 2 racing seasons and it lasted, when I rebuilt it it only lasted 2hrs." So, goes to show, even new components can fail!!! I don't have my log book with me. Was +- 420hrs. Crank was not replaced, it was the original one. "WAS SUPPOSED HAVE BEEN CHEC...

Engine failure 4Hrs after 8yr/450hr service
R20 000 later. R7500.00 on the 503 and the rest on wing and kart for an ATF. I am now after 8weeks and after many hours pondering about the whole incident, PISSED OFF. I was in my forth hour of dual instruction, conversion from fixed wing to WCM when the engine failed on the climb out, with "no opti...

Re: Escort N3 Ultra City Strip
Not sure about a Cubby, but i landed there with my Shadow, 10m wingspan. Coming in South to North is a lot easier than one would expect. There are tall lampposts on the eastern side, ie Durdan bound carriageway and nearest the buildings, halfway down on the western edge is quite a large drain, above...

Re: ROTAX 582 - High EGT
I noticed the same thing on my Shadow about 2mths ago, normally on a cruise with Rpm at 4000, the minute i increase the revs it drops. Is this not a symptom of a worn needle and needle jet? I'm used to my EGT at 525 to 550, when i saw it at just under 600 i got worried, but remembered reading about ...

Re: RAASA Screw Up Again!! CHECK YOUR PAPERS
Hi Pierre, I really appreciate you coming back to me on this. Congratulations on the new addition to the family. The more i think about it, I should appologise about making Raasa look bad. RAASA'S delay was largely due to CAA taking so long with my Certificate of Registration. They were Pathetic com...

Re: RAASA Screw Up Again!! CHECK YOUR PAPERS
Thanks for the input. Have chilled, just very frustrating when things take so long especially when you check with them every 2 or 3 days and nothing happens. I do understand people make mistakes, but i dont think it should happen in these organisations this often. These mistakes could have serious r...

The third photo, runway 34, looks like Howic Glider field? Anyone agree and recognize it now?

Re: Dishes Tank!!! - Non aviation - pet related
Hi Dish, you have been given a few good ideas. As the owner of a Pet Shop i can tell you a dog normally wants to do some business 15-20min after chow, so thats when you need to take him out to the designated spot and encourage him, no need to drop your rods and squat next to him, you'll probably mak...
