Re: Microlight Magazine

Well I must say that I have given up. MISASA/Aero club is is supposed to make sure that we get better service from CAA, ICASA, etc. Well this year the situation is that I got my Radio licence within about 10 days (last year I got it in about 10 days as well but before that it took about 6-12 months)...

Re: RALT

Maybe you can have a RS232 output as well in which case it migth be possible to integrate with other instruments as well. The outout can be directly TTL levels and not RS232 levels which means it is not going to cost more, just 2 connection points.

Re: Scratch build a Trike

The engine was fitted this weekend. Now it at least feels as if it getting somewhere! On the photo below Oupa-G is giving a hand. Jo helped to do the heavy lifting and hold the engine in place while Oup fitted the bolts. Jo is also taking the photo - thanks Jo. As you can see my Ridgeback is also gi...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Before I go into what I have done the past month, I have to thank a couple of people. As everybody that has build or even just worked on your plane knows, it is impossible to do without the help from others. This help can take various forms, sometimes it is technical and sometimes you just need a bi...

Re: What's in your Pannier Bags?

My favorite. You can clamp it to a bolt on one side without damaging it and you have an extra hand. It is also handy if the bolt is in one of those awkward positions that you can not reach at the same time as fastening the nut. Most of the other gadgets on the tool is useless except for the file whe...

Re: Mag or Coil problem?

The kill switch earths the coils (as I understand it anyway) If you had an earth problem and your problem started when you disconnected it, my guess would be that it is not a coincidence. Where it is is depends on your earth wiring. I suggest you replace the earth cable(s) and all the crimps on your...

Re: Looking for 53.4mm Diameter Lower boom tube

There might be one laying around in the hanger. Let me know what length you need and I will take a look next time I am at the hanger.

Re: 582 Water Temp.

I have had a similar problem in warm weather and I have tried very thing including flushing, recoring, replace the thermostat and the radiator cap. The only thing that worked at the end was to replace the radiator and relocate them into hi flowing air. I replaced mine with two smaller ones from and ...

Re: BMW motorcycle engines

BMW engines work well but if you do want to install one you must have a reasonabe understanding of engines and preferably know at least the basics of fuel injection. If you don't, you are in for a lot of frustration. As far as performace goes you can not compare them. The bmw is a modern, combined a...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

Hi Grumps Have not seen you for a while. Are you still flying? By the way I was just taking off my glass to look better on the photo but oupa caught me in the act and now this is the only proof that I did weigh the thing. I have drilled the new holes for the pylon over the weekend and will post the ...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

To make sure that the hang point is a the correct position before the final fitting of the pylon all components were fitted and equivalent weights were added for those components not available. The wheels and tires were not the final ones to be fitted since they are not ready. The fitted ones are ab...

Re: Scratch build a Trike

The Ystervark is is making some progress again. I had to make a lot brackets which Jan tacked for me. Last week it went to Gerrie for welding. Over the weekend I started assembling everything. I will have to take it apart again to electropolish the frame and anodize the aluminium. IMG_1411.jpg IMG_1...

Re: GoPro Motorsports or Helmet HERO?

I have both the GoPro and the Drift and I can recommend the Drift. There is noting wrong with the GoPro but the Drift is just better. The remote is also a bonus. The remote does not work well if the camera is mounted on the wing tip with the engine running though. I have talk to at least 2 other peo...

Re: Mandatory Transponder poll

What do they mean "within the vicinity of"? This might mean if you are close or under controlled air space you need a transponder as well in which case most of us will need a transponder. Regarding the possible MGL transponder I under stand 1) A proof of concept model already exists 2) CAA will only...
