Re: Garmin 296 loan please?

Hi Len

I have one you can borrow. It is shy of the last set of updates (last year I think) but works well.

You will need to get it from Sandton though.

Re: SACAA introduced a fining system

Hi Again Sorry, I drew attention to sub-regulation (m) and the fact that it is a catch all but now I see that this is the only one where there is no specified spot-fine. It is discretionary which, I think, reinforces my suggestion that the CAA inspectors will deal with minor transgressions by way of...

Re: SACAA introduced a fining system

Hi again I found them, and have had a brief look at them. The offences are provided for in Regulation 185.00.1 (1) and these have been in effect since 13 August 2007. Nothing new has been added to the offences but, what is new is the provision, in Regulation 185.00.3, of Administrative Monetary Pena...

Re: SACAA introduced a fining system

Hi All Can anyone direct me to the actual regulations which specify the offences and the penalties. I do not seem to find them anywhere and I would like to have a look at them. Essentially one cannot just go around creating offences whenever one feels like it (even Big G had to reduce his to writing...

Re: North meets South 2011 - Gariep 20-22 May 11

Hi Jabbanaught Saturday - what is wrong with what you decided originally but with a few amendments: - wake up - partly recover from hangover worked on the previous night - breakfast - fly the dam as originally suggested (I was a student at a Rhodes research station at the dam so that would be partic...

Hi Mak

I went out shortly after you this morning and returned shortly before you. The conditions were exceptionally good and even my landing was acceptable.

Hi All

Here are a few flight line photographs. If the resizing tool works that is.

Hi Flynote

I think this is a very good post and one which we can learn from. If there is doubt then assess the risks properly and, if the doubt persists, don't fly.

Hi Saraf

I am not sure Uppington is acceptable. I really do not want to taxi 5km so that I do not leave more runway behind me than is absolutely necessary every time I take off. :-)

Hi Frans

See what happens to aluminium rotor blades when you taxi over uneven surfaces too fast. :-)

The detail is very good for a 10 year old. Without looking at what you fly I could recognise it as a Sycamore.

Re: Congrats Magni

Hi Jabbanaught A bit of trivia - DUO was number 301 Magni produced. She came to SA in the same container as 300 which was sold to Deon and which went down shortly after delivery (something about the gills I think). You can see this by the serial number. One of them ends in 301. This was about 5 year...

So, what happened?

I trust the gyro pilots showed their fixed wing colleagues how things should be done.
