Re: a Question about the "chat channel" - 123.45
We use 123.45 for chatting, and 124.8 for flying info.If you don't like it,use another channel... Well I guess that shows us Nicow's attitude! If I wanted to use the Chat frequency (Poor name, because it encourages exactly that.) so that I could have a conversation with my buddies, I hope that I wou...

If you knew Andre and you haven't been onto Avcom, go there now and see the tributes to him. Pages and pages! What a guy!.

Re: touch and goes v. stop and goes
Thanks for these replies, Gentlemen. I thought that I had already posted this response, but must have confused it with an Avcom post. The purpose of my question was to establish in my mind how/whether the normal GA fixed wing fellow needs to modify his approch when doing circuits or landings, if the...

touch and goes v. stop and goes
There was some discussion a while back on Avcom about stop and goes. No one really seemed to know if gyros (all gyros?) can perform touch and goes, or whether they are confined to stop and goes only. 1.What is the situation? 2.Are gyros any more susceptible to rough runway surfaces than trikes and o...

I think I know that the answer to my question is that these guys have the sole agency for Rotax engines. But here is the question anyway: Where do the jetski owners buy their spare parts? Is there a jetski service centre that may just have a different set of rip-off structures?

Re: 582 and hand pump for difficult starts
Thanks for all the advice above and the concern (Pumba). As it happens, the bulb system was not installed as other cautionaries had also been issued to the partner who aws about to install. Because we have been flying every day this week, there has been no need to "pour fuel" over the air filters. T...

Re: Ramp Inspection List
Thanks, Morph, from me too!
I spent a while yesterday constructing a Flight Folio page, only to wake up later to yours. Yours is much better in its construction. (I am still working on the C of G issue. Your page for thid looks good, as well.)

Re: 582 and hand pump for difficult starts
Thanks, DR
I have done a search and read most of the info on the previous posts. In the meantime a marine type hand pump has been fitted as an interim measure. The next few Saturdays will tell whether it cures the problem.

582 and hand pump for difficult starts
Is it a pretty normal thing among trike pilots to fit a bulb type hand pump into the fuel line between the tank and the mechanical pump to solve a starting problem with 582 motors? I am told that trike pilots quite regularly simply open the carb bowl and top up if the aerie has stood for a week or s...

Check my post under the Cheetah forum. No need to go the RAASA route. An MPL Grade A or B instructor can, it would seem from Mary S. at CAA do your type conversion onto your PPL.
Did you really sell the Cubby only to start all over with a BB?

Re: Ramp Inspection List
Thanks, Morph I shall try the factory and the CAA. I met Braam and Piet the other day when I went to effect the authority to Fly. They were helpful and pleasant in every way. The Owners Manual gives the datum point and mentions that the forward and rear limits of the C of G are behind this point, bu...

Re: Circus Airfield / Rainbow Airschool
See my post in the Cheetah forum - I have just received confirmation via CAA that an appropriately rated MPL grade A or B instructor may do the PPL level type conversion.

Re: Circus Airfield / Rainbow Airschool
Am I correct in my understanding that a PPL holder who wishes to do a type conversion onto a Cheetah has to have his training and conversion with a PPL rated instructor only, who must be a Grade 11?

Re: Ramp Inspection List
Thanks, Morph I have compiled a list, based largely on yours and ignoring the obvious, like having to have an ASI and and altimeter. I think that I am accurate enough to pass any ramp inspection except for one or two minor issues like weight and balance data. I have gone through the CATS and CARS on...
