Re: Jab Motors and Pump Fuel

Dear Mr. Duck Rodgers My point was very badly made so you missed it. I think you also failed to pick up on the sarcasm. There was no critisism against Justin but it's very nice of you to defend him. It seems that the chemistry and physics regarding fuel vaporisation seem to have changed so I guess I...

The rule is simple, the aircraft manufacturer determines what fuel t...

Re: Air filters

I agree with what you say Boet. I am beginning to wonder why us "old farts" should have to put up with snide comments and implied insults from the self proclaimed "experts" out there who give bad advice and opinions with nothing concrete to back it up. I wonder if it is woth it?

Re: Manifold Pressure

Hi Callie, All the info that I have posted relates to a naturally aspirated motor so only the basics apply to your engine. As I said, pressure will determine power output and the higher the pressure the more power you will have. The maximum pressure available in a naturally aspirated motor will be p...

Re: Manifold Pressure

The manifold pressure gauge is perhaps the most misunderstood instrument in the cockpit and is used in only it's most basic form by most pilots of type certified aircraft and not at all by the rest, and this little instrument can give you an incredible amount of information, some of which can be an ...

Re: Air filters

Panty hose are manufactured from a synthetic material called POLYAMIDE. Usually only the gusset is made from cotton but not always. (I got this from a book) I doubt if you would recognise a cotton shirt if it jumped up and smacked you in the eye. LOL You can lead a horse to water but you can't make ...

In 1979 when I achieved my degree in mechanical engineering from the universty of the Witwatersrand, you had to subscribe to 'The Engineers Code of Conduct" much like a doctor abides by the Hypocratic Oath. With this qualification comes a degree of responsibility to your fellow man. You are required...

Re: Plugs different colour each clyd

Hi Duck,
It was said tongue in cheek to motivate him to stop fiddeling and do some flying. I didn't realise that he is in England and of course it's winter there . I hope he gets it to his satisfaction before summer comes.

Well there you have it Paul. The definitive answer from the experts. Finally we all understand from the clear and concise answers from Africa, Hak and andy g Let me sumarise it so there is no misunderstanding. You can do exactly the opposite of what the filter manufacturer says and there will be no ...

To saraf This discussion revolves around the longditudanal stabilitiy imparted by a correctly sized horizontal stabilizer. If you want to discuss flying experience, start a new thread instead of trying to hijack this one. To Low Level, Sir Isaac Neuton didn't factor aerodynamic drag into his laws of...

Re: Plugs different colour each clyd

Runout when measured on the CRANKWHEELS = crank twist = axial misalignment. This is recognised by severe vibration under NO LOAD condition and the vibration will vary dependant on engine speed. The manual will make no reference to this measurement. Axial misalignment will also show up as crank runou...

Re: First Impressions

I don't think that looks are decieving, actually I think that Learjet has got it spot on with his observations regarding this thing. If you want to see what happens when a high drag cockpit overcomes the drag of the rotor, then google "gyro accidents" and you will see that this design is likely to t...

Re: Rotax 582 Coil Rewire

A charging coil seldom burns through as it stops making significant current as soon as it shorts out. The reason that it shorts out is a breakdown of the insulating coating painted on the wire in the form of varnish (not wood varnish) If you can see the black mark where the coil is shorted, then the...

Re: Plugs different colour each clyd

The dial gauge will measure distance so i'm not sure how you are converting that into an angle. However, the difference that you are reading could easily be a bit of carbon or a mark on top of one of the pistons. Either way, if you can measure no more than one degree of axial misalignment then you n...
