:oops: :oops: Seems there is a bit of confusion. I was led to believe that on domestic flights it is acceptable, but because SAA is an international carrier they made the their rules universal for both domestic and international flights :( that's why I did not even bother to ask when I was on the SA...

This happened to me, the solution was a dirty filter/ or filter that had been washed in fuel (not by me) previously. This collapses the fibre of the K&N filter :?:

Thanks for the feedback. What I am worried about is that my figures show that with say an Aquila 582 with full fuel will allow only 160kg's to be carried legally.
