Re: Runway on R572 national road
Apparently being used by the mines around the area as a "delivery / drop-off" point. Was used in the 80's by the Airforce
It is on the register as Z27K - I am sure if you stick that into your GPS as destination, it will find it.

Re: TRACKING DEVICE FOR PILOTS ?
There is always the PLB's that is on the market, but I think that they are rather expensive. I have Google Maps on my Cellphone. it will track you to your nearest cellphone tower, giving you a range of about 3 to 5 kms around the tower where you could be. Makes for a much smaller search area. Also i...

Gyro design & why that direction???
Hi all, Just looking at the Member's Project section and Agent's thread on the LittleWings, I reminded myself of a question I had some time ago. If one considers the design of the rotor, and as a given accept that the inner 1/3rd is not contributing to the lift in any significant way (perhaps even t...

Re: Good Buy?
My take on this whole thing is that the MAC CDL was good enough when there was nothing else around. Now we are spoilt rotten with all the choices around us. First question; What do you want to do with it? I have a complete (bar prop and elevator sail) Weedhopper stached in my garage. It takes about ...

Re: New member
Rod, This microlight thing is really addictive. I find it a lot more fun than flying the bliks (or shall we say more conventional blik types) I am doing my training with Fred Blockland out at Springs on the Savannah (a very light blik) and I am enjoying every second of it. But thinking of it, you ca...

Hell BadNav, I haven't seen that board since the last time I visited Louis Trichard... And that was in the last milenium 1992 - to 1994'ish. Was fortunate enough to see a full Squadron Scramble one day - they had every flying Cheetah in the air in a couple of minutes took off four at a time. MAN the...

Re: Savannah Owners
Stephan, Not really so slow... two up in the circuit I have to work to get it below 40mph for the flaps. At 75% power the Savannah will do a comfortable 80 mph and If you want to go at 100mph you will most likely have about 80 to 85% power set. What amazes me about this aircraft ( I am talking about...

Re: Savannah Owners
Rudolph, I share your feelings about this remarkable little aircraft. I started flying the savannah late last year and frankly feel that I wasted a good couple of months on the Cherokee 140 prior to that. Do not get me wrong here - the cherokee taught me valuable lessons, but had I started out on th...

Re: Advise on Illegal flying required
Mario, I think we all feel like that some time in our lives. It is just that this guy is probably not licenced not because it lapsed, he is most likely not licenced from the word go. I know of self taught pilots, who by trial and error figured out how to fly. That is not the problem BUT, it is only ...

Re: Advice on Keeping the Ball in the Middle
Going "down" to the smaller (read lighter) types is quite trickey. I went from the Cherokee 140 to the Savannah. I am told that the old training donkey grows lazy feet. Remember that when you approach in a Cherokee 140 you will use rudder input to pick up the wing when it drops, and throttle to cont...
