Re: KOALA REFURBISHMENT PROJECT

Hi Paul 2 seater. Warp drive is good. With a 582 blue top, e type gearbox. Cruise 60 to 65 mph @ 5300 rpm. I chose the warp drive since its composite nature is less maintenance, vibration etc I have also kept it as a taildrager, maybe convert it to a tricycle undrecarriage later on. B...

Re: Microair Radio vs others!!!

So far so good. I have logged just over 25hrs with a microair radio. Intercom is fine. Just make sure your headsets are both the same and are set up. I tried a different headset and the system went pair shaped and when i went back to the origionals it worked fine. ($$) ($$) ($$)

Re: Which engine???

good life, good consumption
i would prefer the HKS
reasonable power
i believe the 582 can deliver a little more but i would say the HKS will offer plenty of power. But then again how is the support for the HKS :?:

EGT's again

Before take off i let my engine warm up to 55deg C and sometimes to 60deg. I take off and the EGT's are at the lower end of the green band. Later on in the flight after some low level i increased the power to maximumum and this time the EGT's were on the high end of the green arc (close to 620 deg)....

Re: Engine-out

Is there any problem with leaving the electrical fuel pump on all the time. (facet) it is a series connection and is installed after the gascolator, filter and before the diaphram pump. Can it damage the diaphram pump?

Re: Engine-out

Another thing, the carb mounting rubbers. If they crack, which they tend to do, they will suck air, causing a lean mixture and viola, hole in piston and down you go. A big secret in keeping 2 strokes reliable is running them regularly. Look at training aircraft, amazing wokload without a hitch. If ...

Re: Engine-out

Although the 582 is not a "type cetified" engine i feel that the 582 is the source of power for many of our planes. I want to make my 582 even more reliable than any "type certified" engine. It should be no mistry, so thats why i have posted this letter requesting input and tips for reliable safe an...

old fuel?

How long can you store fuel in your tank before it becomes a hazzard. The fuel in this case is premix and for a 582. Is there a time limit? I have heard that old fuel can cause engine outs etc
