Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."routing for the tower"
To all those who missed the weekend away to Elands camp you really did miss out. Great flying and good company. I really enjoyed it. Loskop dam area is really pretty for flying around and good companions when it came to sitting around the pool with a beer, wine or savanna in hand. Many thanks to oth...

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."routing for the tower"
Starting to look good for this weekend. Just done calcs for route via Loskop and Groblersdal and with 4 knot N wind switching to easterly at Loskop we will have 136min flying time and 34l fuel at 15l per hour. This assumes an airspeed of 43knots (49.5mph, 79.6kmh). So should be no problem even allow...

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."routing for the tower"

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."routing for the tower"
Weather forecast now looks terrible for Friday/Saturday, both at OR Thambo and groblersdal. Rain forecast most of the day on both days according to windfinder. Do we make a provisional go/no go decision on Thursday? Here is hoping that the weather improves by Friday.

Accuracy of altimeter QNH settings
I find when I set QNH before take-off to altitude of airfield I need a higher QNH setting than other pilots. In consequence I have stopped quoting my QNH setting when reporting position on radio as I feel it may distort information to other pilots. It is not due to meteorological conditions as the a...

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."routing for the tower"
Hi Alan,
What time roughly do you expect to be there Saturday
Morning. I would like to meet you and Paul for tie-down and other advice.
Have arranged the Friday off. Sounds like this will be a blast.
Can't wait.
Cheers Frank

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."routing for the tower"
Hello all. I only looked at this thread yesterday. Would there be space for a newbie to come with to Elands on the weekend of the 8 December? I would like to bring my wife, Sharon with. If so what do I need to arrange with respect to accommodation, who do I contact for fuel at the other end, is it p...
