Re: Hartbeespoort FAD71
Hi, While I'm waiting for a meeting to start, some info that I know of: What do you do when flying in those areas? - Airspace is busy, specially on week-ends so use lots of radio calls What are the chances of paragliders flying outside of the FAD71? - Seen paragliders everywhere How high do the para...

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."Home of the Tailwinds"
It might not be Mozambique or the Natal coast but .... flying this morning from Microland was awesome. Nice and warm no wind and not a bump in the sky. There was thick steam fog over the dams and deep blue sky. I saw Robbie doing circuits and Fanie off in the distance with a student otherwise the sk...

Re: altitude and hypoxia
Nice pictures of the mountain, I would also fly there if I could take a stroll to the jazz and order some coffee. The first post asked if it is safe to fly at 10 000ft in a micro-light, The answer is probably, but it might not be - you should read some real medical data on hypoxia and make your own ...

Re: altitude and hypoxia
Hi Jon, ....and the other guys who have forgotten their air law... You are allowed to fly for a maximum of two hours above 10 000ft but never above 12 000ft without supplemental oxygen (or a pressurised aircraft). According to some medical information I have read this actually applies to density alt...

Re: Leaking gearbox oil plug
Hello Piet, I have the same problem with my e-box. At the moment the thread is sealed with Locktight. There are only about 4 threads available on the case so a Helicoil most likely will not hold. The best solution is to take off to the gearbox case and get a good engineering works to machine a brass...

Re: HELMET ADVISE
Hi Goatman, A helmet with visor keeps the wind off your face and from blowing on the microphone but does not do much for engine noise. The bib extends your visor and helps to keep more wind out of your face. For that you need to fit a big fat sponge over the microphone. Google micro-light helmets in...

Re: Close encounters of the Bird Kind
It does not prohibit you from flying there, information only But come on guys! STAY AWAY - Vultures are highly endangered and you will only give microlighters a bad reputation by disturbing them. Environmental groups are very dedicated to their causes and they will not hesitate to make trouble for y...

Re: THE MICROLAND THREAD..."Home of the Tailwinds"
Paul, I went back to Microland in the afternoon and did some landing practice in high DA gusty cross-winds. For the last half hour of light the air was dead calm and the sky was empty. It's really amazing flying in the Highveld sunset, it's like your are inside it. I got some paperwork done at RAASA...

Howzit, This is probably not an issue for Aquila's, I do not know about other makes CAA Document 2. Re: Ramp Inspection Checklist-no response??
My thoughts: WCM 1. Pilot's Licence, Medical Certificate, MISASA membership certificate 2. CC ATF & Release to Service by AP 3. CC ICASA Licence 4. CC Weight and Balance certificate (5 years) and not the little graphy thing that CAA wants before every flight... ffs, you know when you are over MTOW!!...
