I also smell a cane rat...
Come on Swat Patrol, show us your true colours and tell us who you are going to save in Zimbabwe. Which conservancy? Who are your volunteer pilots? Are they all going to fly your fleet of 1 +1 maybe Airies?
Remember Soutie, we are all related this end of Africa...

Re: Gyro headsets
Why hasn't somebody done this before? I also suffer from tinitus and any background noise makes it difficult to hear what's going on with the comms on my radio. How much do we have to spend on different types of headsets only to find that there's still a lot of mic noise because of the open cockpit?...

ZU-CCN December accident?
I see in the latest African Pilot there's a report of a Sycamore ZU-CCN crash in December. I was away but never heard anything and there's nothing in Gyrotalk either. If I remember correctly this is Frans's machine that flies with doors on, well sometimes with just one door!
If so I hope he's ok!

Re: Private airstrip just off R512 Rhenosterspruit?
Hi Ant, Thanks for the helmet by the way! That's the airfield, and it looks like it's in very good condition. Pity about the BIG sign at the gate warning of death or worse to any trespassers. I have a friendly in the area and I'm sure he'll be able to find out who's it is. The other strip is at 25 5...

Private airstrip just off R512 Rhenosterspruit?
Does anybody have contact info for the owners of the property/landing strip which is on the top of the hill just past the Rhenosterspruit filling station R512 on the left going from Lanseria to Broederstroom? I went past there on the weekend and see that there's a new windsock up and it must be gett...

Eagles Creek - a viable alternative
I was talking to a friend about buying a hangar at Eagles Creek just off the PTA/ Krugersdorp highway north of Lanseria. Does anyone own/rent a hangar there and would they recommend buying? There are many stories about these "Aviation Estates" and the hidden costs, unreasonable rules etc. What are y...

Re: Search for Beech Baron
I have just spoken to Richard who's part of the team in charge of the S&R in Mozambique. Sorry guys we aren't going to be allowed in to the area to join the search for various reasons. 1 - The 800ft/no rotor craft restriction is real and being enforced. 2 - The local choppers have been grounded and ...

Re: Search for Beech Baron
Morning guys ( and a girl or 2) I've been watching this situation for a while now. The leader of Renamo has pulled out of multi-party talks and retreated to his traditional military base which is at the foot of Gorongosa Mountain and right in the middle of the present search area.He has armed suppor...
