AERODEN AIRFIELD - NOW OPEN AGAIN!

Please note that Aeroden airfield (approx. 7nm west of Hartbeespoort Dam wall, on the north side of the northern ridge) is closed until further notice. The warning balls indicating the presence of high tension cables on the northern end of the runway were blown down in a storm three weeks ago and wi...

Re: 22 Nov 2014: BIG Fly-in at FABS (Brits)

Thanks to all the organisers and especially to Roel and Gavin. You have a real EAA world class airfield. The closest I have seen in RSA is Stellenbosch. What a turn out as well and the wx also played along beautifully. It was fantastic. (^^) (^^) Roel, your Trike with the BMW 1200 engine looks fant...

Anyone know where I can take my Garmin for repairs that's not Garmin themselves, preferably in the Pretoria area.

Re: Aeroden: Cautionary

Do the township trick. Throw tekkies or running shoes, tied together, over the lines. Spray paint them bright yellow before the time. HaHa! Good suggestion, but I think they will be too small to alert a pilot! Those 'little balls' are in fact about 500mm diameter when confronted on the ground! :sho...

Aeroden: Cautionary

Re: Gyro Hard Landing - Morningstar

I am very pleased that the outcome was not catastrophic. 5 - 10 less meters to recover and the result may have been quite different. Having suffered one or two hard landings myself, I would have all critical 'structural bolts' and critical components that could have experienced undue load/force repl...
