Everyone, let's support this please!!
Comet have indicated that in the past courses have been cancelled due to "agreeing to attend" but then baling out at the last minute!!
Regards,
John

The SIX Key Decision Points (KDPs) of EVERY Flight!
Greetings Fellow Aviators! I found this VERY interesting and a useful "brush-up", courtesy of http://aviationknowledge.wikidot.com/sop:key-decision-points-kdps , and so wanted to share it with you! There are six Key Decision Points (KDPs) that are to be communicated in every flight . These KDPs will...

Re: Cases of fires onboard trikes?
Hi Alan, Just re-reading some of the posts . . . . I am not sure about "blowing out the fire by increasing IAS"! All my experience in fire-fighting (and I've done some!!) flies in the face of this!! Fire LOVES wind, which acts as a super-fast oxygen supply!! Although I take your point on the chances...

Re: Cases of fires onboard trikes?
WOW John! A VW motor in a trike!! I have never heard of that.
Not wanting to pre-judge too harshly, but maybe it was a blessing that it didn't get airborne!!
Thanks for the info though.
Regards,
John

Re: Cases of fires onboard trikes?
Hey Bundy! Thanks for this post! I also have a huge interest in accident information and stats as I truly believe we that as aviators we can learn so much from the hard-earned experience of others, which, tragically, sometimes costs them their lives. I agree with your sentiments w.r.t. trikes . . . ...

Re: Cases of fires onboard trikes?
Hi Alan, A slight correction at 72 deaths (my typo!) but this is still a HUGE percentage!! It may also be that a "level" of accident is not being reported, although I would find this hard to go with considering that it is the UK!! I really wouldn't know, but if I were the authorities I would be real...

Re: Do Microlight Pilots use Checklists?
In my humble opinion all aviators should adopt THIS as their mantra: "Speed of Response is a function of Habit Strength" ! This is a well-proven and easy-to-understand concept. In essence, the MORE we are trained (may I suggest 'off a checklist') how to respond in a sequential fashion to a situation...

Re: Cases of fires onboard trikes?
Thanks Dobbs! Very good info here! Something I completely overlooked was: Carb bowl overflow pipes are routed away from hot parts of the engine and or electrical wiring / components. Thank you for the great guidance around what I presume to be a fairly "low occurrence" risk, yet an extremely importa...

Re: Cases of fires onboard trikes?
Interesting, in that there are lots of "reads" but no responds, possibly indicating 1. It is a topic of interest; and 2. No real data exits (so no incidents?) All I can offer up at this point in time are the results from the UK Accident Report over 20 Years (1980 - 2000) , which out of 59 accidents ...

Good call . . . . for the size and weight I'll be adding a spare radiator cap to my onboard spares!

Cases of fires onboard trikes?
Not wanting to sound alarmist, but are there any cases of fires onboard trikes whilst in flight? My engineering/technical brain would suggest that electrical systems in the close proximity of petrol increases the chances/risk of an onboard fire on ANY aircraft in flight , and clearly trikes are not ...

Re: What's in your Pannier Bags?
Good One! Thanks Bundy! (^^) Water? To drink, right? How much do you normally take with for you and PAX? Spare Radiator Cap?? Really? Is this just as a replacement, or do these come off in flight?? If so, should you not carry a spare propellor too? vhpy Medical Kit! Yes, good idea. I have one, but d...
