Re: the law surrounding part 96
My thoughts are that a proposal should go forward to remove the words training from Part 96 - ie it should exclude ATOs and flight training operations. Intro flights are just that - bliks have been doing it for years and still do via the ATO. Micros were doing it too. If it wasn't broken - why did t...

Re: the law surrounding part 96
Your answer was spot on David.
So the next question is - was this the real intent for Part 96 to cover training, or did we all just miss the ramifciation when it was published for comment? Where are all the other schools on this matter?

Re: Very Disappointed with the flying community
Maybe the safety officers of CAA, Raasa and Misasa should be putting up some posts about safety and past incidents so we can learn and base them on facts? Vatso, take a little time and go and read some of the official accident reports on the CAA website. For most, they will regurgitate only the exa...

Re: the law surrounding part 96
Instead everyone is running around this stupid Part96 thing, which is all good for guys wanting to do Crop Spraying, or Aerial Photography, or Game Counting etc., etc., But for Introductory Flights Part 96 has NO PLACE!! An intro flight is a logable training flight - the time counts towards a perso...

That is my understanding yesBundy wrote:Skybound are you saying that any ATC within range monitors 121.5? I admit, I also thought that these were specific "manned stations"

Re: Who exactly monitors 121.500?
ATC monitor 121.5 and so do most of the airliners. Quite possible that you were out of range of either of those when you made your call, or owing to it not being a mayday the airliner ignored it? If I was on a channel where comms already established with ATC, or on a channel where you knew others we...

Absolutely John, I know and appreciated where you are coming from, and I too like to debate issues like this as it normally leads to a far better appreciation and understanding as to why things work (or in some cases don't). ....I would delete my Aeroden 18 GPS Approaches off my GPS. The answer rema...

Re: Flying a GPS Approach in a Trike!
Worthwile to make mention as to why GPS is still not accurate enough from an altitude perspective unless you have WAAS or correction beacons in the area. This is from an article that I researched and wrote just after programmed error was removed by the USA. (Apologies for the column format - that is...

Re: Flying a GPS Approach in a Trike!
I know of a pilot who tried this plan Z in a trike. He is no longer with us. That is as much a lesson as I need that it should not even feature as a Plan at all.

Re: Frequencies please . . . .
I think the main reason is to just have all the runways listed in a single line for quick reference/planning. I dont believe that it would be to do any manipulation such as pivot tables etc. Correct me if I am wrong chaps. Yeah, that's why I put "correct" in quotes. I think option 2 will serve most...
