Re: Misasa Airfields Guide....great idea or waste of time?

Guys a microlight pilot wrote the Airportiki. Where does it fall short for a micro pilot? Seems a pity to duplicate efforts - especially when the main challenge is the crowd sourcing of the information.

Oh - and an app is already in development.

If you read the regs, taxiing is the initial 'maneuvre' that they use to qualify at what stage of operation one does require to have a pilot licence.

Re: the law surrounding part 96

or do we just want to kill the sport? Quite the contrary, but I guess it depends if the glass is half full or half empty  Consider this - there may well be persons out there who have zero inclination of going the hog of becoming an instructor and operating a school, but would not mind sharing...

Re: the law surrounding part 96

I hardly believe a court of law is going to find me guilty of an offence if my greatest sin remains an interpretation of my marketing material. I will market as I see fit, to get ‘feet through the door of my ATO’.. What is important is “Did the pax know BEFORE they signed the docs and joined the sc...

Re: Landing fees ...

There are two sides to this argument and it is easy to argue to the point that one could say both sides are correct. We have been operating the Uitenhage airfield as an association for about 12 years now. It is a municipal airfield, but we lease it from them, and are basically also responsible for m...

Give one of us a shout when you are in the area. We bring you up to speed on local conditions and regs - like the PE special rules area which extends to just short of Jeffreys (Gamtoos River)

7 trikes and a motor glider pretty much all toast. Even the ones that are still standing have melted parts on them, and not sure what effect high heat has on alumunium.

With only being able to apply for a Student licence at 16 - would it make sense to take him on an intro 8 years early?

I think this gap is serviced by the Young Eagles Program.

Re: Change of Ownership

Hi Fred I do not know what aircraft it is but if I might draw my own conclusion based on you mentioning Misasa and Aeroclub, are you not rather supposed to deal with RAASA instead? As I said I do not know the detail, only asking. Change of ownership is still CAA responsibilty. They maintain the SA ...

Thanks Pierre. That clears it up.

As long as ATOs can do the Exercise 3 - for it's proper intention - then there is no issue.

Re: the law surrounding part 96

Pierre, does what you are explaining still allow an ATO to do Exercise 3 without bringing Part 96 into play? I am referring to training and not any form of sightseeing - as in what Exercise 3 was intended for.

Re: Switch on/off position!?

I think one needs to consider the root of this 'standard', where down was On. When trikes were very much in their infancy, and Mag switches were under the seat (very few had instrument pods)- if you were to bump the switch - the direction you would bump it would be down. If down was off - you would ...
