From what I have seen, would choose:
96C
196
296
In that order from affordable to ridiculously expensive for a micro. I bought the 196 - used it on the trike, tin can and the car.

Agree wholeheartedly with you regarding a private airstrip FF. Problem is that the complaints have mainly come from licenced strips. Maybe the problem is that when we have been operating for so many hours out of private strips, that we forget that there is a legal procedure when visiting a licenced ...

You're right Skybound but where there are aircraft already in the circuit ren't you supposed to join the already established pattern? If I approach an airfield and the traffic is downwind 04 - I will join behind him for 04, not decide to go to a totally different runway. Yes I agree that you should...

There are a few aspects to this debate. Firstly, I think we have to admit that as Microlighters, we do come from a shady background where when ML was new on the scene (10-15years ago) there were many a cowboy involved, hardly anybody flew with radios, had no idea of airspace and it's correct use.......

Even if you do stick to the manufacturers spec and replace crank at 300 hours - you are still cheaper than a Lycoming etc. Did my Kitfox 582 just before I sold it. Replaced crank, pistons, all working bits in the carbs and that cost about R13k. That works out at R43 per hour over 300 hours. Still ch...

I have lost 2 very good mates to trike accidents - so please do not believe what I am saying hear is meant to be calous or disrespectfull. The one irritation is that the accident reports take years to be released. By the time they do get released, everyone has almost forgotten about it and I questio...

Re: Rotax 582 VP Prop
Would like to know if a 582 would be able to swing an in-flight adj prop (possibly IVO) and what the benefit would be. The installation would be in a tractor configuration on Bushbaby size craft. Thanks It is quite a common installation within the Kitfox fraternity. The Ivo and a 582. Although a 91...

CW, I have a full fairing on my Aquilla. I bought the trike that way second hand. I am not sure I would have gone out and bought one if it had not had it. However, now that I have flown with one, I don't think I could ever go back and fly without one. It really adds to the 'smoothness' of a flight. ...

Think there are also some other distinct differences. The threads in particular are rolled instead of cast or something like that. Try sticking a normal nut onto an aircraft bolt. It doesn't work owing to the thread difference. Don't aircraft bolts get x-rayed too before release to ensure no weak po...

Funny thing, this is my feeling exactly, I think it would make everyone's life a bit easier, including CAA and MISASA. When I suggested it, I got some serious flack from the industry. It would sort out so many headaches its not funny. You have my support here. As you say too many blurry grey lines....
